Postby Augustus_Gaius » Wed May 16, 2012 7:20 pm

Hey guys a slightly old, yet interesting article I thought i'd share:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... 39e0e671,0

think of the (perhaps hypothetical) war gaming potential :D

If correct, I think it's one of the most random stories I've ever read, I can't even imagine how insane it would have been for the legionnaires who settled this place if indeed it is correct (i really hope it is :D) in the article it mentions them (fish scale formation) fighting with the parthians defending a wooden fort against the Chinese i.e. the battle of zhizhi, i'm feeling the war gaming potential here :D

Hmmm....for some reason this has been coming up a lot in the Archaeology world. I think I have three mags next to me right now that mention this.

Very cool.....

I watched a programme on telly about this quite a while ago.
It seems the Hun origins of those untypically European looking Chinese
might be more likely but it is a great story nonetheless.
And with Warlords Republican Romans on the (far  ) horizon I can foresee
a Crassus army for fighting in the East on my table at some stage!

Cool 8-)

Cheers

The idea that caucasian genetic roots must come from Roman soldiers is just funny. With centuries / milleniums of trade, slaves, POW'S and so on there are so many possibilities that no serious scientist would claim that.

With the same credibility one may state that they all are descendants of the Polo family. A cold night , a long day of travel at the silk route...... If the Polo travel story is true at all.

The Mongol invaders had many slaves from the west, but that is no story for the media.
