I am for Parliament. I know I am cause I was in kit in the background when they were talking about the Parliament army. I know it was fun.. but it was a bit dire perpetuating the myths although it did but I ring my daughter and say "Qiuck I'm on telly!". Sad but true

Long time ago I visited an ECW day at the NAM in London. Reenactors showing Pike and Shot drill, original arms handling and lectures.
In one the lecturer asked the audience about alligience. Only two voted for the Cavaliers. One claimed family connections. And the other claimed being from Germany, he would have come with Rupert.

No surprise that I was the only German there that day and was the .........

Mostly a's cos I don't like most of the b answers..
turns out Bucks was a Parliamentary stronghold, even though The Kings Standard bearer at Edgehill was Sir Edmund Verney
This meat is a bit Papist for my methodist tastes

Before I got into ECW late last year I was always a royalist more for my current sympathies, rather than any particular conviction based on the time, My King right or wrong! Having started to research this period my disappointment in the duplicity and inflexible attitude of the King moved my sympathies more toward parliament. This did not survive furher reaading of the self serving politics of men like Holles, Manchester etc. It was a breath of fresh air to then read more detailed accounts of Sir Thomas Fairfax, and even Oliver Cromwell. Honesty and integrity at last! I am now for the Army. Long live the NMA!!!

I would have liked a "C" option, you know for Covenanter. I suppose given the two choices, I'd have to say Royalist. Something about Cromwell just makes my Gaelic blood boil a bit more...

Who pays better?
