You could play the game with one box a side no problem. If you wanted to play bigger then that will be no problem either as the game will allow for Infantry, Vehicles, Armour, Artillery etc. The size of the game is up to you.

I like the sound of the game if it works across several sizes of conflict. I only have access to a smaller sized table so a box a side and a vehicle or two would be ideal. Then when I get a decent sized table I can expand the numbers to suit.

Sounds like a winner. :D

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and played a game with us at Adepticon. I was great to see the enthusiasm for the the new game. If you missed us, we'll be at Little Wars this weekend. After that, we're planning to be at Heat of Battle, Gencon, and Rock-Con.

For our demo game, I thought I'd explain the method to the madness...

1 - we used laminated order markers instead of dice to help guys know what orders were given - from across the table, pips are hard to see and require you to memorize the chart of orders: 1 - run, 2 - ambush, etc...

2 - we had all infantry units equipped with rifles for simplicity of stat lines - my goal is to get dice rolling within 10 minutes

3 - we used version 1.0 of the rules - this was a basic set that does a good job for infantry and mortars - I think there will be more details for armor and arty in the final release

4 - we tried to run the game in two hour blocks - anything more complex would have prevented us from keeping this schedule

I was too busy to take pics. If anyone has some, please post

Thanks

Thanks
If you look closely at the first pic, you'll see my take on pin markers. I used a lexan rod on a 25mm base. The skull beads represent pins. We found these to be easy to use and move along with the units. Just another of my crazy ideas.... ;)

and of course hints of Operation WW2/Operation squad, which isn't surprising given the writers.

I thought the writers were Priestley et al? Are Torriani and Del Castello involved as well?

Can someone explain the initiative/action/reaction sequence more clearly?

From the vague descriptions above and elsewhere: Do you pull an order out the pot and choose to assign it to a unit? Each order has an initiative value and thats the sequence you activate in? Or the sequence of activations is determined by the sequence of the draw out the pot, but you get to assign the order number? Cavatore mentioned somewhere that a reaction system would be built in? How does that work?

I wish we could get a decent overview - designer's notes or summink - soonest.

The color of the dice drawn out the pot/bag determines who goes. You choose which order to give the unit, then another die is drawn. As for reactions etc you will need to wait till the rules come out as cant give too much away.

This is written by Rick & Alessio, nothing to do with the Op Squad guys, the game doesnt even play like it.

T-hawk looking good there, was thinking about suppressed markers myself. Once the proper dice are produced for orders then you wont need markers but I agree with seeing dots on dice across tables (must be getting old :D ). we played on a 4 x 4 table and ran a game every twenty minutes or so, two per hour roughly so managed to run about 14 games all day
