Skirmish Campaigns with Bolt Action?

Postby hussar1m » Thu Jun 28, 2012 7:44 pm

Hey there. I was wondering how the new Bolt Action rules will play with published scenarios, specifically those from the Skirmish Campaign books. Has anyone tried this? Are modifications needed (number of turns, etc.)?

I've been painting towards some of the scenarios in the EPSOM book (which are a bit tank heavy) and am in the market for a set of rules. I had just about settled on Rules of Engagement until all the Bolt Action hype began. Thoughts?

It's a bit early to say just yet because the rules haven't been published, but from what I can gather, there should be no problem at all. Scott Fisher composes the books to be compatible with most rule systems out there. With a little tweaking, there is no reason why they shouldn't work with BA. The only criticism I have of them is that they can be a bit tank heavy, as you have said.

Another excellent range of scenario books are the ones by SM Press. These are excellent in that the scenarios are written as sheets that you can give to each player, giving him his own forces and objectives. A corresponding colour map can be downloaded, which shows only that player's positions and objectives, not the other side's positions and objectives. You just let the chaps play. They have to work things out for themselves. Absolutely brilliant! I have the Commonwealth Skirmish Scenarios and it really is good. Take a look

I must add that I have no affiliation with these whatsoever.
