Bolt Action RuleBook Question

Postby CommanderBaker » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:19 pm

So I just bought my set of 25 US GIs and I already put together my plastic Germans, however now I'm worried I haven't set up the German force, and will set up the american force in a way that doesn't work with the rules. Is there any insight to squad structure so i can out fit my troops right?

If you roughly follow wartime squad structures you'll be fine - most squads can be fielded understrength so you'll have plenty of of flexibility.

Okay good because before i knew these rules were coming out i had gotten the alternate warhammer ww2 free rules and planned around it. So that makes me feel better! :P

Im playing these rules and I had already built mine too for Op Squad. I have had no problems fielding them and as Paul says under strength squads are quite the norm so no need to worry.

I'm currently painting up the U.S. infantry.... my squad structure at the moment for Veteran troops is: 3 riflemen, 2 BAR gunners & 2 SMG-armed troops. This comes in at 107 points and should suit the style of play that I like. I anticipate having 2 or 3 of these squads plus mortar and medium/heavy machine gun teams. Plus a HQ 'team', a jeep, a tank and possibly a half-track!
Having tried FoW and Operation Squad (and being rather biased towards 28mm figs) I am totally converted to Bolt Action having been taught how to play by one of the playtesters! Best WW2 skirmish-style game I've ever tried! :D
