Been glorious weather this week here in Denmark. Still I have the face the joys of Leeds and North Wales next week...

Well, bring your umbrella because the weather's rubbish here in Sheffield, just a few miles south of Leeds.

Don't think they are going to need to seed rain clouds for the Olympic opening ceremony!

Aha, top tip for spraying varnish. Use an empty dust free cardboard box and blow warm air into it with a hairdryer to make a temporary warm air cloud, spray the varnish onto the warmed models through it, re heat if youre taking a bit of time, this prevents frosting, seems like a ball ache but definately better than ruining models with frosting.

@Tolcrothlogan, indeed that seems a top tip! As a bonus my Pike and Shotte miniatures will also have lovely blown-dry hair! ;)

Not bad for a winter tip, summer (which it must be in Oz because its cricket season) I just take them outside and leave them and the can for a short while. This warms the can and the figures then spray.
I need a cuppa and lie down. Its all to hard.

I'm yet to try it but in the original painting guide by Kevin Dallimore he suggested doing the eyes first as you cover up mistakes (big eyes) when you move on to the flesh.

Will probably try it out on my FJ after my tommies are done.

It is a good idea to do this as I personally find it spurs you on to paint the rest of the figure. It also means that you don't put the 'worst' or at least difficult job of painting eyes off until the end of the paint job, when your enthusiasm for that particular figure might have started to wane as you look about at the latest 'shineys' awaiting painting.

i too have tried to resist painting eyes..... but i know their not there , so end up painting them anyway. and repainting and repainting.... the black line with two white dots is the easiest ( in the loosest terms possible) method, i found . but i too struggle to find good quality brushes for eyes.. also need something to steady the hands >> ha ha :old
