Video: How To Paint A Pike & Shotte Army In 10 Days!

Postby Correus » Tue Jan 03, 2012 12:33 am

Okay...I've watched this video several times now...I'm still skeptical though.... :?

I know the guy who did this is known as 'TheArmyPainter' and his first name is Jonas (I think). Anyone know how to get in touch with him? I'd really like to see some pictures of these minis close up.

Believe it, I did a whole Skaven army in under 30 days, to a decent standard. And can do a Nap regiment in two nights! This stuff is great.

Thanks guys! Message has been sent to Mr. Faering.

Guess I ought to just sacrifice a couple of minis and test it at some point.

Make sure you brush on, not dip. And make sure you catch goopy runs after it goes on. Leave to dry for 12 hours or so - 24 is even better. Use dead flat varnish. Enjoy!

Grant - have you posted pics of your minis, using this method, here on the forum?

The army painter method is exellent if you want to do huge numbers and well worth the effort.I have painted most of my DBA armies with this metthod and Romans come out especially well. You just have to experiment with colours a little for good effect and as Grant sais brush it on dont dip as this gives you more control.
Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time

I wouldn't use anything else these days. Why should I? it says what it does on the can. ;)

I have used this system for a number of years now and have developed a knack on getting the base coat spot on which should be slightly brighter than those for other methods. The only things I have had no success with it at all is the application on vehicles.

A very good Matt Varnish or lacquer (Dulcote) is essential with the use of these dips. ;)

As regards time saving ,I have painted 3 platoons of Cold War Soviet infantry in one week which for me is good going. Using the layering and wash method this would have taken me approx 3-4 weeks. :D
