Flippin' 'eck, Carvel, this isn't a villa, it's a palace; it's huge! And the locals will want to bur ... have some ideas for heating! ;) Brilliant.

Cheers men :D BD suggested a hypocaust Clive, so I may well add some kind of wood yard and small hearth on the right of the building.
Plaster has dried over night :D looks good in white :D

bit more research..

Sat in the garden in brilliant sunshine anticipating a run/bike ride but avoiding it by adding to the villa.
Woodwork a combination of coffee stirs and pipe tapers from the tobacconists. Both cut with scissors. Retaining wall texture added by using a 'sample' of wallpaper from B&Q :D

Looks fantastic! Will be brilliant for a siege/last stand defence of the town against Clive's barbarian hoards type scenario.

@mikeland/carvel: I'd better forget these Numidians and get on with the hordes ... and some siege equipment! :D

looks great!
(and big!)
One word of advice though, please don't do the mistake everyone else does, don't cover the roof with modern "Spanish" style ceramic tile, ancient roman roof tiles didn't look at all like that!
Take a look here for an example:

I'm doing some proper ones as part of general pre-production for 28mm ancient buildings (hint, hint), need to cast myself lots of different bits and pieces before assembling the actual buildings... while I'm at it if you want I can cast some more for you...

Cheers!

actually Numidians would be a perfect foe to raid a Villa like this, for example during the Punic wars, in all the years Hannibal's army was fighting in southern Italy... :)

Yes, more pics please. Looks very promising. :o

Everybody starting something like that deserves the storage problems.

Think about some dog's footprints on the roof tiles. No joke, many Roman ones show some, obviously often dogs ran over the drying tiles. There are theories that they are not there by chance but intended as a defence against the evil forces.
http://www.55plus-magazin.net/uploads/m ... iegeln.jpg show some end plates. No must but nice.

And don't be shy with colours on the inside walls. No "classic white" of 19th century thinking. The Greeks and Romans loved bright colours. Even the statuary stuff was painted. Mosaics for peoples with money, the rest used coloured gravel or other decoration materials for the grounds.

And perhaps a Grafito at the outside? Some rude one from a xxx neighbour?
One is a must:
A cave canem near the entry, perhaps with a drawn dog. Painted on the wall or a mosaic. Many on google pictures, print and cut out?
