Nowt worse than having a pile of would be suitable based figures, buying a rulebook and find you need funny dice to play it.

Hope Warlord have a better dice supplier than Gripping Beast does... ;)

Grrrr. Dont understand why running demos of the game at events is not giving "too much away" while answering questions on a forum is...

At the event we only played a very basic game without any of the more indepth rules. This was to allow people to get a flavor of the rules without trying to be too clever. It worked well as all who saw it thought the new rules set played really well. But whats the point of just giving all the answers to everything on here, then you wouldnt need to buy the rules when it came out ;) All those of us who have played it are doing is trying to give some basic help so that people are steered in the right direction with buying figures, basing them etc. Also the guys in Chicago were playing it slightly differently to us so was interesting to see. :D
Cheers

The Gripping Beast Dice Fiasco is truly entertaining. First off, their website is rubbish. But when you do somehow find the Saga section, the dice last a couple of days. Tops. I emailed them about it and they didn't seem to care one bit. Suggested I look all over the web for some. I guess Vikings are a scratch.

Anyway, it's only a few months away for BA - as for dice, I might suggest the cool Flames of War sets, which also have tokens for pinned and such. I buy them because I like them!

The idea of playing against someone with SS dice is a step too far for me. In fact I find it pretty frightening.

I like their suggestion of buying blank dice then downloading the stickers for the sides. It's a shame because it's got such great potential as a game, it's just that the whole nuts and bolts of getting the books and dice available to buy has been botched rather nastily.

EDIT: Actually, I think I heard it from our friendly Scandinavian pal Dal, so I've just tracked him down to his Baltic hideout and downloaded them for much freeness. Cheers fella!

Dice only hurt when hurled at a tremendous velocity, otherwise they are fairly docile.

I can concede the point from a politically correct point of view, but to me if I'm playing SS, then I want my totenkopf coming up as my 6!

With your painting skill, I expect to see murals on your dice the next time we get to game... :P
We talked about the detail on your tank commander several times over the weekend. Nice work!

Yeah yeah, ok, you have me caught out... i am the sort of gamer who buys rules just to see what they are about.... ;)

Seriously - answering questions clearly is, in my opinion, part of a game's marketing. I am not going to plan to buy rules if i dont have enough information about them. I am certainly not gonna base or build miniatures in anticipation of rules I know little about. I would rather continue building for, basing for, playing and promoting (by word of mouth and gaming) rules that are already published...

Warlord and Osprey need to help convince me that the rules will be worth buying, no? If the information about how they work is not forthcoming from Warlord or Osprey, that means waiting for independent reviews, which at the very least, will delay my purchase by the time it takes to get a solid body of reviews out into the interwebs. And then the rules will need to be good enough to overcome my negative perceptions caused by the tricklefeed marketing approach... ;)
