I was reading through the Dacian Wars book and see reference to foederati units. I have googled them and understand the reference but am not sure what would be the appropriate model to use. Would normal Roman auxiliary models be appropriate?

The Markomanni and Quadi can be named foederati, even if the term was not used in the Roman sources of that time. Trajan demanded troops from them. They fought in tribal dress. Some nobles may have got Roman stuff but most not.

The auxilia was a regular Roman force, recruited among non Romans but equiped by the Romans.

Modern research showed that the difference between Legio and Auxilia equipment was not so strict as long thought. We know now even auxilia with scutum and lorica segmentata.

Thanks for the info. I think i will use Germanic warriors for this. I saw some images and they seem to be similar.
