I didn’t see any French infantry figures armed with a submachine gun. The French produced the MAS-38 Submachine Gun just before the war.
January 2, 2019 at 9:35 am #152665invisible officerParticipantFrench Generals long thought to need no SMG. Mass production started at the end of 1939 and just 1958 are made before capitulation. Few reached frontline units. (In fact a big number was captured in factory)
That gives ca. 10 for each Division in France. Most ended in staffs.
It existed in the 1940 campaign but a soldier with one was a rare bird.
Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne started protuction again under German control. Most made in WW II got used as MP722(f) by Germany.
January 2, 2019 at 11:29 am #152669Richard CoatesParticipantThe junior officer in the French Army HQ blister has one – as far as I can see, he doesn’t have any significant features that mark him as an officer, so you could use him if you wish. The loader in the Senegalese Tirailleurs Infantry section box also has one. I believe those are the only two.
