Does a defensive unit get closing fire if the enemy units “runs” more than 6″ to assault or start more than 6″ away from the target? We were playing a game where the assaulting unit was with 6″ of its target but had to run almost the full 12″ to contact it due to an obstacle.
On a related matter, can a unit run through a 2″ gap between an occupied bunker and an enemy tank by staying 1″ away from the tank. We try to not use gamey tactics, so would the group feel it is a fair tactic (i.e. not gamey) to use an armored vehicle turned sideways to create a “wall” designed to force the opponent to run around it rather than gain a shorter pathway to the entry of a bunker.
November 17, 2024 at 5:43 pm #190656NatParticipant1) hmmm ambiguous but RAW would say that if within in 6″ its a surprise charge even if the move taking is 7-12″ as its “when the charge is declared” I’d play it as the move personally… but one for an FAQ /errata
2) its 1″ away from the wall of the building AND 1″ away from the vehicle so there would need to be a 3″ gap for them to move through
dont forget that limited number of pivots a vehicle can make & the heavy weapon bonuses for shooting said side… and once its destroyed it can be run over by the attacking infantryNovember 17, 2024 at 11:19 pm #190658Stuart HarrisonParticipant“… and once its destroyed it can be run over by the attacking infantry” – This is incorrect as wrecks are impassable terrain, Damage results chart, Knocked out result, third sentence – “Either way, vehicle wrecks count as impassable terrain.” It does lose the 1″ exclusion zone as it’s now not a unit.
