We were recently contacted by Heiko Sander – a gamer who’s recently been painting our new Landsknecht range and the results were just too good to keep to ourselves!
Landsknechts ‘servant of the country’, were raised as an answer to the Swiss mercenary pikemen that had dominated battlefields for decades. They were instigated by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I in 1447
The most striking aspect of the Landsknecht forces as you can see, were their outlandish dress.Having been given their freedom to choose what they wore by Maximilian due to their short & brutal lives, and Heiko has captured this elaborate dress perfectly
