Fabrizio Anastasio started the topic Artillery: Recrew and how to destroy guns in the forum Bolt Action 9 months, 2 weeks ago
Hi All,
In a recent game we had some issue with “dead” artillery.
For example, I had 2 autocannon within 12′ from each other. One autocannon lost all it’s crew. In the rulebook, it is said that you don’t need an order to re crew an artillery, so we assumed that, when the “dead artillery” dice come up, the other artillery crew can run toward…[Read more]

Thanks. That clarifies it. I was used to seeing the fixed rule in the unit profile and now it’s not there. However, it’s very clear from the artillery section cited that they are all fixed.

“I’m just noticing that V3 and the new V3 German list no longer give AT, AA, or HE guns the fixed rule. ”
See the Weapons Chart, MRB p92 and repeated p314. All those weapons have fixed in their entries on the chart. I can’t explain why Warlord felt the need to delete the fixed rule from the individual unit entries and rely on a re-wording of…[Read more]

They are artillery guns. Therefore they are covered by the Core Rules coverning artillery.
They would need explict exceptions to be able to advance and shoot.

I haven’t found an easy way to search the forum for past responses, so I apologize if this has been asked before.
I’m just noticing that V3 and the new V3 German list no longer give AT, AA, or HE guns the fixed rule. That rule now only seems to apply to machine guns and mortars. If they don’t have this rule and the errata did not correct this as…[Read more]

Any word on when the digital versions will be available? Being a yank of Scottish descent I am too cheap to pay the postage for paper copies again.

Even if You’re not fluent in German Rohwer / Hümmelchen Chronik des Seekrieges 1939 – 45 is a great source. Giving OOB for nearly all small channel actions. (And more all over the world)
There are also internet day by day chronicles like that.

Bolt Action V3 is neither a historical nor a realistic game. With version 3, the decision has been made to publish a fantasy game set during the Second World War.
It’s not just the weapon rules, which very often don’t make sense. It’s the rules in general. I could list countless ones. Why they decided to change the rules so much can only be…[Read more]

Dont thing theres anything surface level… possibly an osprey book like “Churchill’s Channel War” or drachinifel / IO might be able to point you in a better direction
Apart from that maybe check out YouTube, or you have to go deep diving in to Operations by Name /Location, Unit history, work back from shipping losses that sort of thing.

Thanks for the ideas. I’ll get a hold of the group and see what we can work out.
Any suggestions on where some historical channel battles are discussed?
Thanks.

I always figured that you’ll never get anything if you don’t ask . And the more people that ask would be more incentive for companies to make something . I once asked a company if I could just buy a certain piece out of one of their aftermarket stowage sets , mind you I wanted a dozen of them . They gave me a price ,it was a little steep , but I…[Read more]

I was hoping a number of people would chime in saying they were looking for some too , and maybe get Warlord to release a blister pack of various track pieces and spare wheels for specific tanks . I think that new plastic/resin stuff the rereleased tank crews come in would be perfect to mold track in . Would be nice to have a Panzer III & IV set…[Read more]
