Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Advanced BA Rules Questions: Kaukopartio Long Distance Recon w/ Transports in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago
Unit abilities/special rules don’t get transferred to any transport they may happen to be in, so that would be a no unless specifically stated in their special rules (and it isn’t).

Hi All, I’m a little confused, comes with age :(, I want to try BRS and I notice the rules are Air Strike. How are the rules in Battle of Midway aligned to the Air Strike rules? If I get Midway would I need to buy the Air Strike rules? I note you can get Midway at a reduced price using points, what would be the best way to start in this game?

I mostly play Finns, and that would make a borderline OP unit just silly good.
I’d say no, you couldn’t transport a Kaukopartio unit on from the back edge. That ability is granted solely to the deep recon guys, not the transport.

Thanks Warren for your reply, btw that link doesn’t work ….. can you please post the subject for the thread.
Also what scale are you printing for 15mm, I’m using 92% for 28mm.
I agree the models from that KS are great, the Uhlan are being delivered this weekend 🙂

I have converted (kitbashed) models ever since I started wargaming in the 1960s. In those days there was only Airfix readily available. So if I wanted anything not on the Woolwoths Airfix shelf I had to convert or scratch build it. Fortunately the Airfix magazine had monthly conversion articles.
So even now I convert if I need som…[Read more]

Though I have no answer to the query posed, the question of new items (weapons, units, or rules) has long been a problem for Bolt Action. If they are not designed for tournaments, why are they still being produced? I am really tired of seeing something new and then being told it will upset play balance or create some other issue. Either allow…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Air strikes – target moves in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago
Artillery barrage targets a point on the ground – units in the danger area can move away and are only at risk again if you get a delay and move the impact point.
Air strike targets a unit – if the unit moves, the strike moves with it. If the target is destroyed and you don’t get a rookie pilot or delay result, it’s wasted.

I thought I had Air Strikes sorted until this happened..
The original target moved.
The wording in the book allows for 2 readings: (1) the airstrike is on the target regardless of where it is at time of strike., or (2) it targets the area where it was at time of designation of strike (or later when moved due to delay)
If (2) it makes it hard to…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Clarification for playing Motorcycle troop correctly. in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago
@Neely Clapp – they are not ‘in soft skin vehicles’. They are an infantry unit with a movement upgrade, and are ‘…generally treated as infantry except as noted below…’ (motorbike rules, second para). If it doesn’t say to treat them as something other than infantry for a given purpose in the motorbike rules, p90, then they are treated the s…[Read more]

Okay, now I have a question too: are infantry units with 5pt motorcycles wound as their infantry equivalent? Regular = +4 to wound, Veteran = 5+ to wound OR since the infantry are in softskin vehicles they have a +6 to wound?
