Thanks very much for the link. They do look very good missions – very well balanced. After the club’s current Market Garden campaign is over we can give them a try.

Hi,
Played my first HC game (Marians vs Anglo Saxon) since the start of Covid yesterday, and unsurprisingly found both I and my opponent had forgotten just about everything. The section of rules that we had most problems with was the proximity rule, so here are some queries:
1. The Saxon line advances towards the Romans. The two battle lines are…[Read more]

The German Lead Unit has Paranoia as an ability. This unit is known for being an advanced placement in the region to conduct covert actions and confusion.
Its other abilities are:
Sowing Confusion and Behind Enemy Lines (clearly described as being active when off-board)
US Equipment and Tank Hunter (clearly only useful and active when…[Read more]

Charge The Guns replied to the topic Number of stands in a 15mm cavalry regiment? in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 7 months ago
Hi Richard, sorry that there is not a simple answer to your question. The Black Powder rules give you the flexibility to decide how to build your units so that you can use them if you already have a collection and what ever sort/scale of figures you have. This does make it trickier for people starting out.
The BP rules don’t work in stands. Th…[Read more]

Both the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings can field combined units of heavy and medium foot. Can you combine upgraded heavy infantry with the medium infantry (i.f Saxon Thegns equipped with Long spears with Ceorls)

Well, I am suffering from a poorly phrased question. What I am really looking for is how many stands per regiment. If 120 men make up a squadron, and let us say there are 8 squadrons, how many stands represent that regiment? In many systems that would be 4 stands. Am I to assume that a single stand in Epic represents a regiment or do I make…[Read more]

Hi Richard, I’m not too sure on the question but I think you might be asking about the number of Warlord epic scale ‘stands’ in a unit?
I’m not sure what Warlord expected, but for the rules to work best the key thing is that the same convention is used by both sides. It’s a good idea if all units (infantry or cavalry) are just about the same fron…[Read more]

Thanks Nat, but – and don’t tell Warlord this – but I’m using 1/6000 scale ships. So the ranges and model size discrepancy is much less apparent.
so where is the section on smoke?

Its an optional rule for large games… I’ll just add that if you put them line astern unless both ships are destroyers you can be touching base and be over 4″ away!!! … so you’ll find a house rule is if ships are touching base then they are at point blank range / in proximity irrespective of actual measurement.
ps if you look in the ‘news…[Read more]
