I bought the VaS rule book months ago and gave it a read through. I made notes and wrote a 2-page summary of the sections relevant to what I wanted to do. So on Saturday HMS Exeter sighted smoke bearing red 100, and then made the signal “I think it is a pocket battleship”, followed soon after by “enemy in sight”. So two of us played out the River…[Read more]

Hello fellow Bolt Action fans. I just stumbled across this “Bolt Action Alliance” idea for Bolt Action the other day while watching a YouTube video where it gets briefly mentioned. I also did a quick search here on the official Bolt Action forum to see what people think. Surprisingly, this is not mentioned.
Anyway, I just had to share this wit…[Read more]

Hi all, my initial impressions after opening the box and reading through the rules. Currently I’m building out my models for Bolt Action, Blood Red Skies and Victory at Sea. Looking forward to the campaign game and the tabletop battles. The rules are pretty straight forward but I’m not sure about setting up battles between different types of un…[Read more]

Hi there guys, based off my recent questionnaire I’m looking to start with something that was fairly in demand and yet serves all genres of gaming… modular Battle Mats in square format so you can mix and match them to have several options each game.
Now these could range from generic nature or biomes, to detailed specific Battle Mats and I’v…[Read more] -

Found this on the AWM London site which seems to comfirm the impression I had above:
“Australian naval vessels stationed in the India Ocean at times served in Burmese waters, but no Australian units served in the campaign, although many airmen of the RAAF served in RAF squadrons, and in 1945 some Australian Army liaison officers served in…[Read more]

SteveT replied to the topic Indirect Fire – "Ranging In" in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 7 months ago
Right, pin markers have no effect on To Hit modifiers for indirect fire.
In the INDIRECT FIRE section of the rulebook.
“When firing HE shells using indirect fire, a 6 is required to hit, regardless of any modifier.” Then 5+, 4+ or until you get a hit and are then “ranged in”.
Other than that, as you said, they do affect order tests.

I’m driving myself crazy trying to find this in the rules: what effect (other than having to pass on Order test) do Pin markers have on indirect fire units (spotters and/or the weapon firing); are there any negative “To Hit” modifiers?

I don’t think the number changes just the size so 4,6,8. Could be wrong.
