The shot doesn’t happen until after the recce move is completed – if the target unit is still a valid target, the shot (including the radius for working out secondary targets) is resolved in the new location. If the target unit isn’t a valid target (out of sight, out of maximum/minimum range etc) you’ve wasted your shot.
Better to target a…[Read more]

Hello everyone!
I’m quite new to BA and, to be honest, I have a couple of questions regarding the matching between boces and theatre of operation.
I have always had a passion for Fallschirmjäger and Gebirgsjäger. Two branches of the German army, considered as “elite”, intended to complete, in general, missions with minimal equipment and s…[Read more]

If a rocket launcher targets a unit that recces away out of line of site, does the launcher still get to target all the other units within 6″ as normal?

Why not count uber large units as two standard units in extreme cases. 1000+ might be in this realm of an average French bttn (at Waterloo) is 600.
…and while I’m here don’t forget that most cuirassier regts at Waterloo are small units!

Thanks Jim. Seems like a glaring omission though.

There is a Bren arm pair on the new Brit/ Canadian sprue , maybe some ones got a set to spare . Or pick up a Brit weapons sprue and convert a pair arms to carry the Bren . You will also find a Bren in the plastic Uni Carrier kit .

In the plastic sprue there’s a K-gun, but no Bren… have I missed it somewhere? How do players plan to make a commando troop without Brens?

Whats the rule that stops the Landwher from deploying skirmishers?
-
arcole replied to the topic Landwehr/Miliz and Mixed Formation in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 2 months ago
Actually, as the points system does not include a cost for mixed formation, so the saxons get a freebie which the Landwher do not get.

The issue with a jet version of single engine props is that they wouldnt really work that well… the airframe is wrong for how the engine draws in air – look at how the phantom or F86 Sabre look….far easier to design a new aircraft, Twin engine aircraft might work with early jet engines – stuff like the whirlwind!
HOWEVER – I do like the…[Read more]

Poor skirmishers rule no longer has any meaning…it basically removed the +1 skirmishers got in v1.
The points I think are right…not got access to my spreadsheet where I ran all the calculations

OK thanks – yes I think I will continue to use the Advance Rules for Generals, seems much more engaging way to play.

Big Al replied to the topic BP2 – re-rolls in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 2 months ago
Yes, I tend not to play the new command rules, but stick to the V1 option. I have played the new way and it works, but all your General is doing is bestowing a reroll. You can use him to issue orders, but he has to join the brigade and eplace the brigade commander for that turn. He can only do that if the brigade commander hasn’t issued any o…[Read more]

I agree with you about sub commanders being under priced in the supplement, in my scenarios I make them half the cost of the commander.

As always thanks Big Al
Personally I think the rules for re-rolling could be a little clearer (especially for a relative newbie like me). However, your explanation makes perfect sense and I shall follow accordingly.
When you say “If you want to use the SR of the General, then it is he who must issue the order in the first place” I am assuming…[Read more]

A reroll is just that. All of the conditions that were in place for the original roll are still in place, you are just getting a second chance to make the result a good one. So, no, you do not get an improved SR rating because it is still the original commander that has issued the order. With regard to Reliable, the same answer – you are rolling…[Read more]

Hello all
A few questions on re-rolls:
-When a general with a SR of 9 joins a brigade commander with a SR of 8, do you use 9 for the re-roll?
-If you are re-rolling using a general with a SR of 9 and you are ordering a unit with the Reliable rule, would that make the re-roll order a 10?
-If the general has joined a brigade commander for a…[Read more]
