Hi Mike,
Confused – absolutely!
The Grenadiers and the square are on the same side. The Grenadiers wanted to charge in order to prevent the Grenz column attacking the square.
If the simple answer is that being in proximity range of an enemy only restricts you to moving forward in your front quarter or backwards in your rear quarter then the…[Read more]

The proximity rule is straightforward, the French grenadiers need to move into either their forward or rearward quarter (see p.24), the number and position of the Austrians doesn’t matter other than them being within 12 inches. The key point in this example, is that the grenadiers would have to charge the Jagers, (you cannot contact them without…[Read more]

I think you are confused regarding the Proximity rule.
First, you are either in “proximity” or not. In your picture, you are due to multiple enemy units being within 12″, but it takes only one. So since you are in proximity what are your options with regard to the Grenadiers.
1) you can make any move in your front quarter you choose. As lo…[Read more]

Turned out to be academic. Out of 40 bombing dice rolled, only 3 6s came up, and not two at the same time.
On the other hand, out of about 30 light flak, there were no 6s at all

Hi all,
Played our first game of Black power yesterday which raised a question. If you look at the attached picture is shows the situation (note we were proxing a lot of SYW figures as we have only just started painting the Napoleonics).
Near left is a French line infantry in square, Just beyond them is a Grenadier unit. Opposing them are the…[Read more]

They didnt include 100% of any nations ships… (RN M class DDs, mentioned in one of the scenarios – no where in the book same with the Delhi AA Cruiser… mentioned as a refit but no stats!)
As to the why? no idea how they chose which ships to include or not, but some of the paper ships of the RN that where included in the mongoose version &…[Read more]

I got the main rulebook recently, and as I was flipping through it, it occurred to me that I can’t find one of the IJN carrier classes. Unless I’m missing something, there doesn’t appear to be an entry for the Unryuu-class. The class was designed as an improved version of Soryu. Eight were planned, with three completed. An additional eight…[Read more]

My take on this would be:
– strafing: hit only
– bombing: hit and critical

Against a dispersed target, you need critical success to get hits.
Normally a single success gets you an area hit, and a critical gets you a point and an area hit.
So does a critical success against a point target get an area and a point hit?

Hmm, now we are promised some more models. But, why Drache? In the 13 months with helicopter test service it did not much, some minelaying actions.

Nat replied to the topic Subs vertical and horizontal movement in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 7 months ago
Hi Ed,
Changing depth doesnt take up an flank speed movement, just the opotunity to issue an order.
Dont forget that subs have a 50/50 chance to go from surfaced to submerged just because another ship has got to close.
If you look in the News from the Wardroom thread I’ve put up 101 guides to subs, mtbs & flights as well as a 1 page cheat sheet.

We have been playing VaS at our LGS and we had multiple interpretations on this. I would like to verify that a sub can change depths (or get issued an order instead) first and then it can also move (according to its stat card and depth) in its movement phase.
We initally read it as the change of depth is considered its movement.
Thanks for your time.
