    you’ll note that my comment was BEFORE WL released the sepecial rules TEASE

    I highlight that all we have are teases…we dont know 80% of the rules… so it could be that there are massive changes, or it could be that they are highlighting the big changes and everything else is the same.. we dont know till september.

    I agree L.T., Bolt Action is as good  as any other ruleset out there for resembling the kind of things that happen in battle. I’ve tried most of them.     The issue here is you are straying out of the hollywood movies of ww2 (which is what BA is) and into the simulation of ww2 which is covered by multiple other game systems…

  • GREAT point, Aidan!  Brought back old memories from my National Guard service.  We had a mortar team who’d been together for 10+years.  They could drop a round right into your pocket!  Green crews from other companies would be dropping rounds completely outside of the firing fan, sometimes out of the impact area.  Same with machinegun team…[Read more]

    Yeah I agree there should be more abilities for skill then just morale and staying alive longer.

    Yes, it does seem odd. I think skill is often overlooked those on who focus on hardware. It is why this (and many other WW2 games) will never recapture the results that we know happened such as  1 Tiger taking out X Russians.

  • I was looking at the new “simplified” Hit Modifiers Table.  There’s a -1 for inexperienced troops.  I’d like to know why veterans don’t get a +1.  I could see veteran troops being more likely to hit a target, as well as having better morale and being tougher to kill….

    accuracy – yes..

    ability to act – no
    chance to run away – no
    potential casulties – again no….

    BUT as we dont have a time frame for a turn / order activation i’m ok with that because we have no idea how many shots a RoF 1 actually is!  BA is a game with a historical skin, not a simulation with a gaming skin as it were…

    So an officer with a pistol taking potshots at a squad, has the same effect on the squad’s accuracy as a heavy howitzer hit. Hmm…
