I was just curious what house rules you guys have in place at your local level. We have some we are experimenting with to try and solve some issues.
Armored Cars in transport slots: In base BA rules these can be captured by the stupidity of having enemy models closer. We have changed it to if the model is armed and had an armor value of 7+ then…[Read more]

P.S. As for playing solo, the full rulebook isn’t out yet, so I don’t know what its solo scenarios will be like. So far, Warlord has released one solo campaign, “Tokyo Express”, which uses the ships from ‘Battle for the Pacific’ (https://www.warlordgames.com/victory-at-sea-tokyo-express-solo-play-rules/). If you’re easily amused like me, just…[Read more]

Hi Ian,
I got into Victory at Sea and am really enjoying it. The challenge for Atlantic folks is this: the ‘Battle for the Pacific’ starter set is currently the only place one can get the rules booklet, the tokens/markers, and the turning gauges for the game. The full rulebook comes out in January, and can be ordered on its own or with a fleet.…[Read more]

Think my wife would shoot/divorce me if I flew 3 thousand miles across the country, got a hotel room in Las Vegas, just to play a wargame I could play on the dining room table all weekend. 😛

Great question. Please see my experiences below…
First things first. The best tip is to just go do it. This is what we did. At first just Robert and me due to COVID. With the two of us not more than 26 km apart we normally visit each other for a game. But as we both regularly visit our mothers too we didn’t want to risk it. At some point t…[Read more]

Hi,
First, thanks for letting me join the group. I have been a wargamer for 40 plus years but new to naval war gaming. I have a question about the best way to start with Victory at Sea. My interest is on the battle for the Atlantic and the war in the Mediterranean, i.e not the Pacific war. Would you recommend missing the intro box and going…[Read more] -

It seemed very clever (from companies view) to have that game in an unusual scale. 1/1800 is limited to very few makers. Not like 1/3000, 1/2400 for gamers and 1/1200 and 1250  for Gamers and collectors.
So the Warlord customers are doomed. And the Etna causes a small uproar. In the common scales few would care. Just buying alter…[Read more]

Or to provide another example, the Mid-War Monsters for Flames of War. Battlefront wanted to cater to players who might be interested in hypothetical “what if?” armored vehicles during the Mid-War period. But the result was unpopular with the general player base, and could possibly have turned into a disaster if the models had been placed in…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Any suggestions as to the base colors to use as far as the base green. Using Vallejo paints.</p>

You mean correct hues for the camouflage pattern, or the pattern itself?
If the former, I doubt you can have a historically-true hue for the colours, as all pictures we have of Zuikaku late war are black and white. The pattern itself is documented as you see in my attachment, but it is noted by the artist that at least part of the colours and…[Read more]

Great battle report, JW. I really enjoyed that. Very exciting finish with the King dying at the head of his Gendarmes! I think this period fits in well for P&S, although not tried in Hail Caesar.
How did you find the game being run via video call? Any tips?

Does anyone know where I can find a paint guide for Zuikaku or at least have and idea as to what paints to use for the base colorLate war). I use Vallejo paints.

Hello tabletop commanders! My name is David, 34 from the Netherlands(Zeeland, should any local read this).
I recently got the Band of Brothers starter set and am now firmly hooked. I have yet to play against an opponent, however after assembling the forces I played some solo games,
which were very entertaining(if somewhat biased towards the US…[Read more] -

I think I made some progress.
