Also, some scenery – an IJN DD and some IJN planes engaging the enemy near Wake
I love Warlord ships, but I really do not like the planes – especially the Zeroes have this weird selector of role in their base that rubs against the base itself and chips away the paint and I hate it as a concept.
So I printed planes on sheet styrene, cut them out,…[Read more]

Yes, I would agree with you, Enioch. I love the aircrafts in VAS.
I am really looking forward to future aircraft sublements, especially IJN divebombers and torpedobombers like the Aichi D3A1 Val or Nakajima B5N2 Kate, to bring a little bit more power to the imperial airforce 🙂 -

Cool beans. Thanks.
I’ve been trying to fill in the last 50 pounds of my order for Free Courier, and I’m trying to decide how best to fill it out (knowing that I’m making a trans-Atlantic trip hope in June.). I guess I’ll wait and see what they have in mind for January!

I’ve heard rumours about a supplement for Canadians and possibly Canadian minis. Does anyone know if this will actually be a thing, and if so, about when?
Please & thank you!

Enioch replied to the topic Bombers, dogfights & ships…what happens? in the forum Victory At Sea 5 years, 2 months ago
Rules are clear that dogfights are immune to AA, that bombers attack when activated during the gunnery phase, and that dogfights happen at the end of said gunnery phase. There are no stated limits to being able to defend yourself if you have already attacked as a bomber.
So, in order:
1. No, the ship may not engage the flight with AA
2. Yes,…[Read more]

So your saying ignore the dogfight completely?
Note I’m not talking tactics about if you should engage the attacking bomber flight or not ….purely what would happen if you did

My most interesting army is my French Resistance.
Firstly its not hordes of uniformed guys all in the same colour.
Secondly, it wasn’t straight forward to assemble a large enough army of figures.  They come from at least half a dozen differnet manufacturers as well as ebay and took me several months to acquire.
Thirdly: it includes a whole h…[Read more]

The rules are pretty clear about not being able to fire into a dogfight. While I’m a bit dubious about how historical that was (anti-aircraft gunners were unlikely to take the time to note whether there was a friendly fighter tailing a bomber that was in a dive), that’s the rule.
There’s nothing that says that a bomber can’t attack a ship while…[Read more]

I still think that Nat’s idea of making Tiger Fear a national rule instead of a vehicle rule for 1944 and 1945 is good.
But like many others, I was also hoping for one of the following to be added to the Tiger Fear errata:
Page 50, Panzer IV G, H, J. Delete the Tiger Fear special rule.
or at least:
Page 50, Panzer IV G, H, J. Change Special…[Read more]

Hi I’m looking at dipping my toes into a bit of Ancient warfare and thought a skirmish game would be a good way to start to getting some figures painted and building units for larger games like Hail Caesar. I’ve not heard much with regard to SPQR. So I was wondering what’s the uptake like at your club or group compared to other games ? Bolt Action…[Read more]

It’s a good thought Nat, but I think a little overly complicated.  I think there could be a much simpler solution than even what Warlord did.  Right now as a German player I’d rather not even play with the rule since it allows my opponent to premeasure.
I’d make it so a unit with Tiger fear applies a -1 to any test using morale, including reserve…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes and the world is also filled with teams who failed because the leader wouldn’t or couldn’t do a “lower” level task, with the excuse that it is not their role and they have more “important” things to do. Or are you saying it is OK for the NCO to be a loader but not a gunner?
Whatever the case the FAQ is out there until it is amended. But as I…[Read more]

I wrote LMG, not SMG. It surely affects the leaders job. A good leader is not just showing his rank signs, he commands. And for that he needs all his senses to control the fight.
Holding that weapon is no problem but serving it is.  A LMG demanded a lot of “love” to work. So both crewman had to focus on that job. No time left to look wha…[Read more]

I started playing Bolt Action 2nd Edition with the US Airborne, followed by Rangers, US Infantry, Soviets, 8th Army, LRDP, Afrika Korps, British Army and Commandos. So a little of history mixed with a bit of game play… using tank veterancy rules as a base idea…here is Nats idea! ™ :p
Tiger fear : 1943 onwards. All German tanks with an armour value of 8+

So define intresting….
looks / modeling – you’ve got the IFFÂ late 1944, so you can do a mix of free french in US & British uniforms with US armour + resistance fighters (with IFF arm bands) & supporting SAS / para’s /rangers
You’ve got British /Free french/dutch/norwegian etc commandos
LRDG (long range desert group) for that raiders with…[Read more]
