I think they should take a leaf out of the Victory at sea book…where you set a year for your game..
that way you can put tiger fear as a national rule instead of a vehicle rule – ie 1944 & 1945 applys to all medium and heavy tanks
just an idea for v3….:p

Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, that is indeed a contradiction. The only “work around” for now is for the NCO and another man to be upgraded with the LMGs, so that the remaining 2 men become the loaders. But that would risk losing both NCO and LMG should the NCO be taken out by sniper fire. We have to wait for the next FAQ to resolve this.

Just a heads up guys. As of September 21, 2020, they changed the rule for Tiger Fear again. It now reads:
Page 17, Tiger Fear special rule). The first sentence of the rule
will be amended as follows:
All enemy units that are within 18” of, and have line of
sight to, one or more vehicle with the Tiger Fear special
rule (see the vehicles section o…[Read more] -

Confirmed! The newest Errata & FAQ for Bolt Action Second Edition that was just released a few days ago (dated September 21, 2020) now has the above update for Spotters.
I wonder if this forum thread which was started on September 15th, 2020 had anything to do with this new addition?

Another FAQ response ignoring a clearly stated rule – p73, Weapons, Weapon Special Rules, Team Weapon, Squad Based Team Weapons, third sentence “Choose which model becomes the loader – you can pick any model in the squad except the NCO, …”.
Again the Western Desert author creates a discrepancy with the rules and it’s fudged in the FAQ rather…[Read more]

This is in the latest FAQ for the Western Deseet book:
Regarding Compagnia Sahariana. Squads are set at an NCO and 3
men. Up to 2 men may upgrade to SMG, Up to 2 men may upgrade
to LMG. Is the NCO meant to be able to upgrade to an SMG? Also,
if 2 LMGs are taken one will be automatically without a loader
(unless the NCO can load)?Answer: The…[Read more]

Finally the latest Errata:
Page 71, Spotters. The following sentence will be added at the
end of the entry:Note that spotters are always ignored for the purpose of victory conditions (e.g. they cannot capture/control/hold objectives and areas of the table, move out of the table to score points, etc).

It might be better to email support @ warlordgames.com for recommendations on the store functionality.
For Antares novels, though, Warlord have no knowledge, control or visibility of anything upcoming. Zmok/Winged Hussar would be the place to go.

Battleships also have batteries of light guns that can be used against fast, agile targets such as destroyers. However, a battleship that gets close enough to a destroyer to use its light guns is also very close to being in range of the destroyer’s torpedoes.

SteveT replied to the topic Is Hail Caesar dying? in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, I think it might be partly due to the fact that Warlord don’t rules the ancients’ wargaming world. Might change as they bring out more figures? I am so late to the party that I would’ve expected more presence here, on what must surely be the main forum for the game?
I think the strength of the openness of the Hail Caesar rules (and Black…[Read more]

Thanks for your statements guys,
so the rule 7+ could not be hit, makes sense for me. Your story about USS Edsall is a great example for nimble and small destroyers. Thanks for that. So in the game, it will be the best tactic to use light cruisers with fast-tracking guns against that destroyers.

Steeljackal replied to the topic Camouflage nets in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 2 months ago
In rulebook it is cited like any other light cover.
You can put it in gun emplacements, like trenches and sandbags. You use it as a normal scenic element that provides light cover when setting up the table.I looked at a couple of expansion manuals (“Battlegorund Europe” and “D-day: Overlord”) and as protections to add to the army list I couldn’t…[Read more]

Good question. I would think camo nets will play a part against enemy airstrikes, but checking the airstrike rules it seems cover does not affect airstrike to-hit rolls, as airstrikes hit automatically as long as they are not driven off by flak.

Charge The Guns replied to the topic Is Hail Caesar dying? in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 2 months ago
I think that the number of forum posts is not, on its own, a reliable view of rule popularity. The Bolt Action forum is very busy, and I think this is due to Bolt Action being seen as more of a ‘whole game system’ by many. You buy the rules, you buy the figures, you buy the paint, etc. (This is great for historical gaming as I think BA is the…[Read more]

The rules are just one side, the problem for the Forum are the miniatures. The Warlord ancients are good but there are other companies with very good ancients. In old Forum that was no problem. We could show them too.
Last week I had a bigger battle setting on my table. But Punic wars – so not Warlord. And my EIR are metal, pre Warlord era…[Read more]
