I’ve just started looking at Korea,
I too fancied a KPA force to start with, then use my WWII US troops as proxy for a later Korean force to take them on.
i was looking at the starter deal, and also noticed NO selectors with LMG squads having 2 weapons??
also the starter deal gives you a medium and heavy machine gun teams, again not strictly a…[Read more]

I always found Warlord mortar, arty,… team with medium and large circular bases to put all on it.

I reached the point where I need to start sticking figures to bases. I have two options, the plastic rimmed warlord ones or some 2mm thick MDF ones.
Torn between the two. The plastic ones seem like they might be neater but the shape and size is limited, whereas, MDF bases are available in a huge range. For example a two man prone team (such as…[Read more]

“If the target is a weapons team, for example a bazooka or medium machine gun team, then exceptional damage indicates that the weapon itself has been damaged or rendered inoperable in some fashion, so remove the weapon and its firer as a casualty.”
Given that MMGs were already suffering from the LMG upgrade, in my club we have a club-rule to ign…[Read more]

Hi Steve,
you wrote “This kind of implies that the surviving crew could run about independently…after the loss of the main gunner and actual weapon.”
If I understand right, this is not correct. A team based weapon unit (like MG, mortar, bazzoka, sniper) after exceptional damage entire unit and dice is lost. Assistant can’t continue to fight. F…[Read more]

The choice is yours. I prefer to use small bases and keep assistants separate. You can quickly and easily see how many servants are missing. I attach some photos.
A normal wounded, chosen by the defender.
An exceptional damage means that the weapon is damaged / jammed in addition to the gunner’s death, and the assistants flee. The whole unit is…[Read more] -

I thought this would have a simple answer, until I checked the rulebook, shooting section, taking damage:
“If the target is a weapons team, for example a bazooka or medium machine gun team, then exceptional damage indicates that the weapon itself has been damaged or rendered inoperable in some fashion, so remove the weapon and its firer…[Read more]

Bases with multiple figures (ATGs, MMGs, Mortars etc.
I haven’t decided for sure yet, but I am inclined to fix the crew to base and employ some sort of marker system to show casualties. One thought is a small dice frame and a dice to show the number of surviving crew.
But I have two questions
1) I don’t know the game rules that well. Is t…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 6 months ago
Haha you are assuming the player spends 3 points to give the NCO the SMG, which wouldn’t be the case if he could be given a pistol for +1 point instead.
But I do agree that NCO’s weapons are specifically mentioned, and all other mention of “men” exclude the NCO. That’s how we have been playing it.

Nat replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 6 months ago
To be honest there is no point to giving the NCO a pistol…the game idea of the pistols is to give assault rule to the guys without it so the whole unit (less 1 guy) gets tough fighter in combat….
The actual TOE I suspect is that the BAR gunners carried the pistol as a secondary weapon…

Thanks for the responses, guys.
I agree that RAW, the NCO can’t take a pistol, but that seems really wierd. I’d imagine they’d be as likely to have one as any other guy would, so how does one go about submitting something for an errata?

Remarkable answers on such a specific question, thank you!

Here’s a photo showing the mounting for the coaxial MG34.
But I have read into the Finnish Stugs and I doubt any had this feature because they pre-date when it was added.
So maybe the Bolt Action book is referring to the roof mounted MG.
Cheers,
Nigel
