  • I hear you, but I still worry about unit costs, even in scenarios that I’m designing.

    “metagaming”?

We have some highly-ranked tournament players in our group, but I’ve got no interest there either.  I will act as a sparring partner though, just ’cause I like to play….

  • Yeah, I hear you.  Much as I wanna support Warlord Games and local game stores, I find myself haunting Ebay, looking for a bargain….

  • Yeah, a tour of Bovington is definitely on the Bucket List for me.  I’d LOVE to see Tiger Day and feel/see the Tiger drive by….

  • Frau and the “Out for the Count” set with the chaplain and the vampire are both Bolt Action weird war lines and don’t have any rules in K47, or even in BA, as far as I can tell.

I like the Enthrall idea very much. Taking a different tack from the suggestion above, maybe make every unit within 6″ have to take a morale test before acting. If the…[Read more]

  • I did not realize that the Galahads each had an LMG! I assumed they were assault rifles, like everyone else’s powered armor. Wowzers. They also have both Resilient AND Tough, too. They’re slow, but since you can plop them in a Kangaroo, who cares about that?

  • You can certainly give the unit multiple order dice and use Snap-to-Action all the time if you want them to coalesce around him.

I have no opinion on the cost of the unit. I never play game with points and I don’t care about ‘competitive’ lists, metagaming, tournaments, and so on. I’m a scenario/campaign gamer.

  • Howdy folks!  I game with a group at White Knight Games & Hobbies, in Helena, Montana.  The Warlord Games gaming group meets every Wednesday evening around 6pm.  Games can also be set up for almost any time the store is open, we usually play longer-running games on the weekend….

  • Howdy again Stuart!  My continuing thanks for your patient and informed replies.  I agree with your point; “…benefit significantly from being crew served and were employed as light machine guns by their respective armies…”, however I’ll continue to quibble that they’re not much better than having a BAR with a loader, as opposed to being a…[Read more]

  • Thanks for your reply Nat!  I’m gonna run your idea and Hellraiser 7’s by my group.  Makes sense to me….

  • I think the British Automated Infantry are a clever idea….however, while I have no problem with the idea of a 10 foot robot toting around an MMG or HMG and firing it from the hip, why aren’t they suffering a minus for using a crew-served weapon without having a crew and/or a range subtraction for not having the gun on a tripod?  Same with the…[Read more]

  • Howdy Luke!  I imagine you could use the Schreckwulfen rules for Frau Growler’s werewolf….

Hmm, a “Vampress squad”….how about something like; an enemy unit that fails a morale check during an assault is “Enthralled” into close combat with the Vampress unit, INSTEAD of being able to shoot at them.   Give them Fast, Tooth and Claw, and St…[Read more]

  • THANKS for your reply, Attention Span Labs!  I like the idea of rolling a separate colored die for Hauptmann Gross.  I hadn’t thought of that….

Do you see my overall point though; that the Hauptmann Gross unit is expensive, while losing several of the capabilities of of the intrinsic sub units?  IMO, the unit is not as well thought out as th…[Read more]

I’m with you Herr Oberst.  IMO, dropping to 15mm would lose the individual figure’s detail that I find part of the fun of Konflikt 47….

  • “…the complicated and varied British Commonwealth rules…”  They’re referred to as “The Cheaty British” by the group I play Bolt Action/Konflikt 47 with.  The folks planning on going to Las Vegas next year have been discussing running “Cheaty British” armies, I believe it’s the Indians?  You start with a free squad AND a free artillery ob…[Read more]

  • I like the house rule of … if down then they’re not in the way as they are on the ground trying not to be hit
If they are in the way (model height + 1″ as per normal) and the roll to hit fails by 1 (ie soft cover mod) then that counts as a hit against the unit in the way :p

Well, ideally four or five divisions is what you need. But as I said, you are learning the rules and made the mistake has been learned. Next time you won’t count the skirmishers. I only said “it’s your game” because of that. I was not saying that you should do what you want because of that, only that it would not matter because of your learnin…[Read more]

I appreciate your comment on “it’s your game” which is also stressed in the rule book.

It is useful, though, to get opinions from experienced players. I think most wargames have a “critical mass” – a size where they work best.

I suspect that although our 3 divisions a side worked well, 4 would have given a bit more nuance? Allowing  more…[Read more]

Not really. It is your game and you made the decision for both sides. I know you could argue that one side might have won if skirmishers hadn’t been counted, but the important thing is that you had fun and learned the rules.
next time you play, you’ll not count the skirmishers and probably find it would make little difference with small for…[Read more]

We had our third HC game today – fourth if you count a solo game I had to learn to play.

So you can hardly call us experts. The game was with a Hittite army opposing a Mycenaean one. Bronze Age.

It went very well. We committed the heinous crime of counting skirmish & light units for purposes of break points.

This was because the opposing armies…[Read more]
