Hi all,
Played our first game of Black power yesterday which raised a question. If you look at the attached picture is shows the situation (note we were proxing a lot of SYW figures as we have only just started painting the Napoleonics).
Near left is a French line infantry in square, Just beyond them is a Grenadier unit. Opposing them are the…[Read more]

Thanks both. Looking forward to getting some games in now that lockdown has eased. Currently have 4.5 battalions and a gun battery painted. Just need top paint the first cavalry unit to have a nice starter army ready!

Hi,
A unit in mixed formation, and the skirmoshers take a hit from musketry. If the main body is in attack column do the skirmishers get the moral save benefit?

Hi Gary,
That may have been the intention, but then why is the text in the section entitled “Morale Saves”, not “Break tests”? Is this one of Warlords classics?

Main rulde book, Page 48, last paragraph on the left side:
“If a unit has take cover, or if it is occupying buildings….. Infantry units in a defensive square formationare also more likely to fight on,….”.
Is that an error, or should units in square get a morale bonus similar to those in attack column?
Also, is there are errata/FAQ for BP…[Read more]

If you have a standard sized battalion, wth a H2H value of 6, How many dice does it get if in attack column?
In “A Clash of Eagles”, rules are proposed for Austrian Masse. Not sure I have got my mind around it as there is a lot of “see page xx….. See page yy”. My understanding is that the Masse is a form of “closed column”, which is itself not…[Read more]

Hi All,
Thanks for the comments. I have now started to work out a list to collect. This brings me to the question of Uhlans. Could the Polish Lancers be used to proxy for them?

What about the Carbine/rifle that CofE gives to teh Austrian Jagers. I could use either Carbine or Rifle for detached small units, but how would you treat a full battalion?

Does anyone know what radio (if any) would have been issued to Soviet infantry, and Soviet forward observers?

arcole replied to the topic Infantry Large units shooting compared to standard sized units in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 7 months ago
Thank you for the replies. However, would question the number of skirmishers involved. In mixed order, “as close to one third of the unit” is deployed in the skirmish line. If you take the standard unit as being 24 infantry, then a large unit is 36 infantry, and a small unit would be 12 infantry.
One third of the large unit is the same size as a…[Read more]

I have just received my copy of V2. There are things in the “A Clash of Eagles” book that are not mention in V2. For instance the Austrian commanders have limites placed on their ability to issue brigade orders, and there are a number of unit special rules (Poor Mixed Formation, Flintenkartasche, Rifled Musket and Carbine etc). As I intend to…[Read more]

Hi,
I have a question relatuinf to shooting.
As I understand it, a large unit shooting adds 1 extra dice compared to a standard sized unit. Does this apply in all circumstances? E.g. a large unit in mixed formation – does it shoot 1 diec or 2?
Thanks

Hi,
I have found further information. I ordered a digital copy of “A Clash of Eagles” book, which covers 1812 has stats and lists and rules for the Austrians and includes units such as Cuirassiers whch were not present for completion.
They give the commanders the same stats as other nations (e.g. 7 or 8 for a brigade). However the Austrian…[Read more]

Hi,
It is the disparity between the rules, the book, and the actual packs sold by warlord. For instance, the Warlord unit packs for this period seem to be based around a unit size of 18 figures. However, in the scenarios from the book, most units are set as “standard” size (i.e. not tiny, small or large), and have a stamina value of 3, even where…[Read more]
