Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Questions regarding rules in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 4 months ago
Which part of my veracity is he doubting? The part where I quote the page number in Campaign: Road to Berlin for the Maus unit entry, the costs from that page and the selectors that entry tells you it can be taken in? The special rules I cut and paste from Easy Army German generic reinforced platoon Maus entry after cross referencing with that u…[Read more]

Ask your opponent to show you the entry supporting the easy army Last Levy Maus.
I think I’ve found what it’s based on, but if it’s this one it’s not only unofficial – it’s for K47!

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Questions regarding rules in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 4 months ago
The Maus is in Campaign: Road to Berlin, p112.
costs are 464/580/696
The only selectors it’s available in are the Generic Reinforced Platoon, and the Last Levy selector (the Gotterdamerung rule and the Last Levy fuel shortage rule are the same, you only roll once not both if using it in that selector).
Special rules cut and paste from Easy…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic (Japan) Tank Hunters question in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 4 months ago
It would just follow the rules for a failed charge – it runs towards the Recce vehicle as far as it can get. Nothing else happens with it, it’s kamikaze explosion only happens if it makes it into contact with the target vehicle, and you only get to consolidate from a close quarters combat you won, not from a failed charge.
In effect, the recce…[Read more]

… or the one sentence that’s actually the rule in the paragraph be in bold (preceded by fluff, followed by example, both of which have been mistaken for rules).

Agree with Nat – “In other words they are allowed to make an advance move and if they don’t shoot then the Sissi can turn their dice to Ambush.” They are on an Advance order up until the moment they decide not to shoot and turn their dice to Ambush. That means they are not on an Ambush when moving, they can’t react by going down.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Shooting and Cover in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 4 months ago
You don’t have the option of withholding fire with individual figures to fudge the odds – p51, Shooting, Measure Range and Open Fire, third para:
“Every model that can draw a line of fire to at least one enemy model in the target unit shoots at the nominated target. Note that players cannot hold back a unit’s fire – when a unit fires, every…[Read more] -
Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Shooting and Cover in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 4 months ago
Cover is worked out based on the whole unit, not model by model. Whether each model can shoot(line of sight to an enemy model, range to nearest visible enemy model, line of fire doesn’t pass too close to friendly models not from same unit) is all worked out model by model. I suspect the way they chose to do cover is related to the fact you can r…[Read more]

The Pak 44 is already in the Armies of Germany book, p43.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Does a officer in a transport effect the transport reserve or flank roll? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 5 months ago
Only the transport rolls to enter the table carrying any and all passengers allocated as aboard it at set-up. Yes, the officer’s morale bonus affects the transport. Last bit about the officer’s bonus applying in reserve is specifically mentioned p 116, Vehicles, Transport Vehicles, Units Aboard Transports, last para, first sentence in brackets at the end.

1. Yes, you can enter a building. You cannot assault or board another transport.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Sdkfz 250/3 in Bolt Action in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 6 months ago
Tank War adds a fair few command vehicles including ones for use in the generic platoon and some ‘Armies of…’ theatre selectors – the 250/3 is on p75-76. Counts as an armoured car selection for all but the Operation Mercury selector, where it’s not allowed.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Indirect Fire against open-topped in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 6 months ago
@Ipaintedmine – Re “one hit kills took out a flamer armed universal carrier”
Just to be clear, it’s not a hit that spells doom for the open topped vehicle. You still have to actually score damage with that hit (D6 plus the number of hits scored). If your roll to damage is successful, you don’t need to roll on the damage results chart for soft s…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Unarmed Men and Close Combat in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
@ Paul – it’s not an errata entry. It’s an FAQ response to an ambiguous question which doesn’t consider different instances of models which may be unarmed.
“Do unarmed models count as having pistols?
No, they do not. They can fight in close quarters, but have no
ranged weapons.”For models with the ‘x, y, or z, as depicted on the model’…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Stacking Officer Morale Bonus in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
No, only one officer applies to any given unit at a time – p82, Headquarters, Officers, last para on the page.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Shirkers Coming in on First Wave in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
Yes, they should test.
The mention of not taking a test coming on as first wave is just general confirmation the ‘coming on from reserve’ trigger does not apply due to not actually being reserves, it doesn’t address any unit special rules that may also be triggers for an order test (such as ‘shirkers’, advancing with ‘one man turret’).

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Transports Carrying Units in Reserve in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
You designate which units are on which transports at set up, and you should indicate this to your opponent at that time – too late for them to board it when it’s just about to roll onto the table. See p132, Playing a Game of Bolt Action, Scenario Special Rules, Reserves, last para.
-
Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Officers on Transports in Reserve. in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
Yes, he does. Officer giving benefit to the transport is p116, Vehicles, Transport Vehicles, Units Aboard Transports, last para. There is no exception made anywhere for when that transport is in reserve.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Cavalry with submachine guns in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 7 months ago
Only pistols and carbines can be fired while mounted – MRB, p89, Unit Special Rules, Cavalry, fifth para. It would require a unit special rule or a house rule to allow anything else.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Unit sizes? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 8 months ago
Generally argued that it should be an ‘automatic rifle’ on a par with the US BAR.
Full rifle calibre, not a shortened rifle round.
Selective fire, but fixed barrel limits rate of fire.
20 round magazine.
Bipod for accurate fire at range. - Load More
