1) It depends on your region. Some places have a solid Antares Community but others wont. The new edition is planed for 2020 but no one can give a fixed date yet.
2) The Antares Days at Warlord Games are always about 500 to 1250 points. This is a regular size where you are able to play up to 12 units (roughly). The last event was going with 600 PLUS lists all the way.
3) The starter armies are all good and contain usefull stuff. You can stick to them and buy rules, dice, etc separate or take the beginner box. Maybe a friend of you like to take the Concords or use them to pimp up your bases. Always nice to see Battle Suits stamping over “dead bodies”.
4) Algoryn and Ghar are archenemies but Ghar are NOW all over the place. The LIVING STORY of Beyond the Gates of Antares brought them to every border. So you can easy fight Concord, Isorian, Freeborn and even Boromites.
5) Algory are nice for newcommers (they have only a few special rules). Ghar are tricky because they typically win high or lose high. They could look like over powered or under powered. But you can trust me, they are well balanced but highly depending on dice rolls.
6) Each campaign book includes stuff for all factions and are the base of the living story. If you want to play not only Ghar Empire you should consider buying Battle for Xilos (for Ghar Rebel) or Dronescourge Returns (for Ghar Exiles).
7) They are mainly working on A2 (or version 2) of the game. But don’t expect an overall new and different game (like other publishers). A2 is more a streamlined and simplified version. You can still use most of your actual models in A2 (maybe not in their actual configuration).
At last Antares Day they also announced new Isorion (plastic or resin) modells which could be part of the new starter box (rumors). And even new Boromites (plastic or resin) are on the list.It is always worthwhile to have a look into the Nexus. There are FREE army lists for every faction as well as playaids and a bunch of short stories about all factions.
If you have any further question, just ask 🙂

here are some pictures from the studio. They are 1:1. As you can see there is even more space in the T7 than in the SdKfz 251.
Compactor technology is even able to compact personal armour under combat situation (thanks to fully suspensored nanites). Quite comfortable if you ask me.Attachments:

In case the enemy has a lot of 1 or some subverter drones going through the Blind Fire may be the only chance for an OH weapon to come to effect. Maybe…
And I wouldn’t expect a buff for the OH weapons because atm they are the stronges on the table. If you ever run 3 or 4 x-launchers you will know what I’m trying to say.
So far I never bought special ammunition for my mag mortar. Just laying some scrambler over the field and hit hard with D10 OH2 ^^
September 3, 2019 at 5:35 am #167841Jan RudolphParticipantYou are right MrPieChee this technology doesn’t work on living matter but if you compare the T7 to other vehicles (like a SdKfz 251 or a M3 half track) the T7 is larger with same transport capacity.
I can send you pictures if you like.September 1, 2019 at 6:10 pm #167803Jan RudolphParticipantHi MrPieChee,
you have to remind that there is compression technology all over the place. So equipment is compacted to zero-space within seconds.
Sure it looks a bit small but “real” size would be much larger. If have a closer look at the CS407 you will see that the twin-linked plasma carbines are even smaller. This could come from stronger power sources inside the vehicle. (Thats why the CS407 suffers so heavy on plasma fade)

no there is no special design for a specific faction. It is like the other drone buddies (shield, batter and so on). Every design is usable for every faction.

the subverter matrix is an equipment piece and not a weapon. I don’t have the Kar’A Nine book at hand right know so I can’t verify if and where it is described.
You can find more about it under this link.
For the beginning you may skip it. Because it is rather “complicated” to use and you opponent will soon describe it as “over powered”.

June 13, 2018 at 5:29 pm #138131Jan RudolphParticipantJust ten days left 🙂 You can preorder it at the shop 😉
June 12, 2018 at 9:41 am #138027Jan RudolphParticipantJust ordered a nhamak drone, a phase troop leader and a vardanari trooper to finish my 750 points of privateers for Antares. Can’t wait for the release of dronesurge (hopefully my force plans are fitting the privateer list)
@ Erik if you are just starting with Antares stick to main rulebook for a while.
Learn it, play it, love it 😉I’ve got all Antares books as hardcover as well as pdf. All of them are nice! It depends what are you searching for.

Vorl are announced for end of this year and Rick said some really ugly things about them.June 8, 2018 at 1:55 pm #137778Jan RudolphParticipant@ Nicholas you have to abstract it a bit more.
First never re-roll a re-roll is ok.
I had the same problem you are speaking about and it is cleared somewhere in the Errata, FAQ or something. Will look it up for you! But the solution is as following:Step 1: Hit a target.
Check for range and cover. Roll as regular.Step 2: Reroll missed hits.
If you have one or more spotter drones you are allowed to re-roll missed hits. Just do it in the regular way.Step 3: Down comes into effect.
Check iff the target is down and benefits from being down.
Now, after all hits are counted, you have to re-roll all of them! But the spotter is not affecting them again.in reality you are rolling this dice three times. But rulewise you have to separate: “re-rolling missed hits (spotter)” and “re-rolling hits (down)”
Hope this makes it clear. If you have any question left feel free to contact me.
