Charge The Guns replied to the topic Using BP rules with 15mm or 10mm in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 4 months ago
We used BP quite a lot for 15mm Naps and ACW. We’ve halved the number of inches (perhaps some club members don’t have rules with centimetres? 😉 ). We have never really worried about the relationship of move / weapon ranges and unit frontages. The key thing we’ve tried to do with unit frontages is have the two sides have the same basic fr…[Read more]

I play with 15mm figures and convert everything to centimetres. For the frontages I do as you suggested, convert to inches and change that to centimetres. Seems to work well. I make two other changes that work for me. With 15mm scale the normal 6×4 battlefield represents a bigger space and consequently I increase artillery ranges by 25%, as these…[Read more]

Same thing though, right? “used” could imply “Used successfully”. Otherwise future games are going to be a bonfire :p

We sure about this? I assumed the wording actually meant “Shot at” as “successfully shot at” as in “hit”.

@Mike, how do you get in contact with the vehicle except by assault? in game terms Assault is a type of Run Command that allows a model to by-pass the 1″ gap rule. So (Rules here) you cant get in contact with the vehicle unless you declear an assault.
So you now follow the assault rules, which include passangers bailing out in the way of th…[Read more]

Hmm, there are some units that are often mixed in lists. In June 1758 the 81st Invalids became the 71st. Blue facings. Disbanded 1769. A new 71st war raised 1775 for AWI. Fraser’s with White Facings. Post 1777 rarely with kilt. The Highland units even dropped the OR sword. Disbanded 1783.
The number was not the name. So the lienag…[Read more]

As mentioned, we have the letters, the pipers did the standard piper job of frightening the enemy and the locals. Before 1854 pipers are not sanctioned, not even in kilted units. Paid by Colonel or the officers. And so some non Highland units had some, like the 20th that had one kia at Roncevalles
The officers disliked the Horseguard pol…[Read more]

Charge The Guns replied to the topic How do you handle Battalia orders and distance in the forum Pike & Shotte 3 years, 4 months ago
Hi Skh25, sorry, I’m a bit confused – but happens easily 🤪!
My understanding is; on each command dice roll, you are either issuing an order to a single unit, or to a group of units at once (a battalia order). If it is an order to a single unit then you measure the distance to the single unit and apply that modifier. If you are issuing to a gro…[Read more]

They still had them, paid by the officers. Horse guard paid for drummers and buglers only. Fortunately we have letters from officers as source. Not just modern oics.

@MasterCheif – two key words there IF & Manages. The transport disembark in to combat means that you didnt get in to contact with the vehicle.
I disagree that the suicide AT rule should over ride the combat disembark rule, as that would mean the unit stays on board when every instict would be to jump out

Armies of Imperial Japan page 26:
Kamikaze. If a suicide anti-tank team assaults an enemy vehicle and the model manages to move into contact with the target, remove it and immediately resolve a hit against the vehicle with a Penetration value of +8 (no other penetration modifiers apply)

Nat replied to the topic Bulgarian Counter-partisan Experts rule vs Forward Deployment in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 4 months ago
If their rule says it stops forward deployment then it’s stops all deployment using those rules.
About the outflank I’ll have to look at the rules again to say either way

Hi Tobias
A long list of stat, point* and rules related problems has been submitted to Warlord (including most of what you’ve listed here) and we are waiting on the studio to release an FAQ /Errata.
However some of what appears to be stat typos is due to the stats having real world influences, such as ammunition (AP & DD) and fire control…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic anti-tank suicide bombers/close assault. in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 4 months ago
suicide bombers can fight in close combat*, they just cant declare a charge against the unit.
However in this case its the embarked unit thats effectively counter-charging the bomber.
*they dont have the ‘unarmed’ rule… now they IIRC they can chose to use the AT mine as their weapon – aka remove both models :p or ‘boot knife’

Nat replied to the topic Points cost and odd stats in the forum Victory At Sea 3 years, 4 months ago
hi,
As IO pointed out the ship stats are taken from the realworld, which is why some guns of the same approx calibare have different AP and traits. The ships fire control systems and the Nations ammunition manufacturing affects the range of the weapons.
And yes the points across the book are messed up and make little sense…
However you then…[Read more]

Converting can be like a drug. Its fun and I love to have MY own miniatures. I converted a full HLI unit years ago.
Easier than converting the London born son of a w. into a Yorkshire one in a series of novels just beacause the actor ………….
Well, that character is so full of fuss that that change in later written books makes no d…[Read more]
