Hi George,
If you want to stay and defend the field then the unit can stay ‘bent’ as long as it stays there. As this is a non-standard situation then I suggest agree a suitable method to allocate dice with your opponent. Perhaps randomise which side gets the extra dice each turn? You could also consider using the rules for buildings for troops…[Read more]

for board sizes, the did say (although it might be v1) that they playtested on a 8′ 6′ board.
For bent lines, I’ve read it as IF you move, you need 1 order to straighten the line before heading off….ie you want to move 6″ down the road you need two orders

Also, this leads to a peeve i’m having with the scenario rules. Map sizes aren’t given. I get this in that playing with different size miniatures will mean different size maps (6 mm require less battle mat than 28 mm). I wish a chart was made for the scenarios giving recommended sizes for the type of miniatures being used (i.e. “In this scenario…[Read more]

Hello again,
Developing my first battlefield for Elixheim. I went cheap for starters. Bought a 6′ x 4′ green felt fabric to be my battle mat and some other felt fabrics to be my rivers, roads, and fields.
The fields turn out be be very small if I go exactly with images from the map on the battlefield. I’ll probably fudge this to make the…[Read more]

So just received a copy of Close Quarters…
And there are some glaring omissions and padding in it!
1) Why include an aircraft type column in the tables then not mention them/ give extra flavour? I mean whats the difference between a fighter & a heavy fighter OR an attack aircraft ….a single engined spitfire has exactly the same rules as a…[Read more]

I thought you meant the hardcopies were at Ospreygames website. Now I see the PDFs available as well at £16 each. If you buy both the hardcopy and the PDF or ePub version, you get 25% discount for both. I’ll wait for the Warlord PDFs.

Does anyone here have any idea as to when the new D-Day book; “D-Day: British & Canadian Sectors – Bolt Action Theatre Book”, will be available?
I just received my pre-ordered copy last Friday with the free Stan Hollis miniature. I am also waiting for the PDF as well.

That carronades shot more accurate was caused by the barrel that was closer to the ball size, less windage. The ball being driven with less “jumping” around. And the powder was used better, less energy being lost by passing the ball before leaving the muzzle.
Trained Gunner knew how to deal with the vivo, the difference between the bore and the…[Read more]

One of the topics that make real world and game crash. The LMG loader carried the spare part and the tool bag, including the spare barrel. Bren magazines are distributed among all men carried in the amo pouches at webbing.
PIAT projectiles are carried in a case. The PIAT loader surely had no Bren parts so could not do the LMG job fully. The mo…[Read more]

I’ve consolidated the various optional rules from the 3 black powder supplements for the Napoleonics in to a single document for the guys at my local club in the UK. Any way thought I’d put it up here to see what people think.
Its written in a short hand as we all have the supplements, but rather than having the take them all around I thought…[Read more]

Do note that the composition of the Parachute Diversion Section was changed in the latest FAQ to include one more man (although it doesn’t resolve your question):
Page 138, Parachute Diversion Section. Composition should be: NCO and 7 men.
The weapons configuration stated for the Parachute Diversion Section is:
NCO and three men with rifles,…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Plug Bayonets Question in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 5 months ago
The sources are vague, not ever stating the type. We know that some units used plug and socket ones at same time. From 1692 we have no more invoices stating plug ones. So……
The pike advocats died slowly, the Swiss French units using both types of bayonet and pike together until 1703.
Many went again for swine feathers, so Russia in 1704.…[Read more]
