In general I think this is true for any unit that advances first into enemy territory, although some might have the benefit of cover as you have mentioned. You could consider laying some smoke to cover your kradschuetzen’s advance. Or you could use HE to pin the intended target before moving up you kradschuetzen. Otherwise you could also use your…[Read more]

The beta rules are for mongooses v2 of the game… some of the rules have been changed… so float planes might not actually appear as while they are in the beta they are also included in the aircraft X trait…. but no observation planes are in the QSR.
So i’d hold off until end of Jan when the rule book is released before trying to alter…[Read more]

Hello,
I made a new blog post with pics and a short video of my first small army of Bavarians (War of Spanish Succession). It consists of 1 brigade of infantry, 1 brigade of cavalry, 1 battery of artillery and 3 generals. It was fun to make.

Well, not everything is possible. The Webbing Pattern 37 web Equipment has some parts that fit only to special others.
That link brings you to a page with the regulations.

But the basic is cast on the miniature anyway. Belts and amo pouches are there.

in a field situation there is no such thing as equipment in the wrong place… the ammo pouch is where the hand goes, same with bayonet fob…. but its how the individual wants to carry it (we used to be able to tell whos belt kit was whos by that).
also you are looking at everyone carrying kit for squad weapons … ie whilst the gunner and…[Read more]

Squeezing artillery on to bases that are too small should be considered ‘weaselly’ and something akin to bowlers tampering with the ball in cricket – not done by gentlemen / gentlewomen. 😀

BP2 specifies that an artillery battery should be the same width as a small infantry unit.

invisible officer replied to the topic What where Napoleonic era cannons made out of? in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 7 months ago
For weight reasons Napoleonic land based field guns had been made Brom bronze. Some older iron guns got used , in, 1812 a few old iron field guns got used in Prussia with rear units. Fortress guns are often iron, the weight being not important. In general an iron gun of same calibre was cheaper but heavier.
Navy guns are mostly iron too, n…[Read more]

Correct myself, width not depth.

Hello again,
In the BP rules it says that artillery can be mounted on 40mm – 80mm depth. I found the 80mm width allows me to put my gun, crew, and accessories all on that signal base. It’s width is about the same as that of an infantry battalion in attack column. Is it okay to have my base that wide or am I going to suffer side effects by doing…[Read more]

I wouldnt use a staff rating of lower than 7 outside of the personality traits table because 7 is the average roll of 2D6. Which when you start using rules like unreliable or units over 12″ from commander you then end up not having any control over the unit and it does nothing more often than not. So whilst it may be historically accurate game w…[Read more]

Hi Rudedog – that shade looks pretty good to me. It looks just like the front cover of the Osprey Men-at-Arms on Gustav’s Infantry which features the Yellow Brigade.
I have plans for this regiment in the future. I’d love to hear your recipe?

Hi Craig,
I have just found this thread after wondering why I couldn’t post in Pike and Shotte 🙂
I have posted with a link and some pics. Sorry I posted it twice as I thought I had done something wrong the first time. I guess both are in the spam folder?
What is the suggested way to post pics in the forum now, or would you prefer posts without them?

Thank you Nat, that was very helpful.
So, tell me about leaders with unwelcome staff ratings like 6 and 5. Can those be a deduction from your points? Is there a table to where you have to roll to take on an incompetent leader?

Nat replied to the topic Math Issue with Points System in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 8 months ago
From the Napoleonic supplements:The default is 0 points for a Staff rating of 7, 25 for 8 and 75 points for staff rating 9.
staff rating 10 is reserved for special characters, some nations have lower costs such as the Russians pay 20 points for SR 8 (to a max of 50% commanders) and can’t have 9, then the old guard list pay 35 for SR8 & f…

Bolt Action latest FAQ:
When allocating orders out by using an officer’s ‘You men, snap to action’ special ability, can I allocate Order dice to other officers’ teams within range? If so, can these other officers also then in turn use their ‘You men, snap to action’ special ability to order more units within range (including potentially…[Read more]

I have multiple Leaders on the board.
Can I use a Snap to Action on a leader to send an order to another Leader, who in turn activates his own Snap to Action….and so on?
