Theres all sorts of miss-prints in that book between the army entries and the stat -charts at the end of the book… missing rules, missing /incorrect stats etc etc
The book is AT BEST a frame work starting point for you & your mates to work off…..
However historically Bavarian Cheveaux Leger were equipped the same as most other french…[Read more]

In real life there had been splinter rings to fix to the Panzerfaust head. So it could be used like an HE grenade too. The PIAT was even better for that role. With no backblast safe to use in rooms or trenches.

Charge The Guns replied to the topic new player with questions in the forum Pike & Shotte 8 months, 1 week ago
Hi Tomasz, I think for ECW or TYW dragoons the rules expect them to stay as skirmishers whether mounted or dismounted. See the description on p 83 of the main rule book or p114 of the Epic P&S rule book. The information on changing formation (main rule book p28) certainly suggests some units can move from battle line to skirmish and back ag…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Do intervening infantry give soft cover to armor? in the forum Bolt Action 8 months, 3 weeks ago
I like the house rule of … if down then they’re not in the way as they are on the ground trying not to be hit
If they are in the way (model height + 1″ as per normal) and the roll to hit fails by 1 (ie soft cover mod) then that counts as a hit against the unit in the way :p -

The temple of Ramses III relief show the carts drawn by more than two oxen (= Slow) and with just one axle in mid of base (= unstable) They seem to be ordinary trasport, carrying the belongimgs and kids. So more like a modern camper, not an APC.
Instead of adding power to a force they would seperate the fighters into the “crews” of a few p…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic What do YOU want to see in Bolt Action v3? in the forum Bolt Action 9 months, 1 week ago
@lawrence well you’ve got a couple of issues…
1 – game balance, LMGs went up to RoF 4 in v2 because they werent in use
2 – time frame – the RoF is not actual but game balance slant on effectiveness
3- Role – just because something isnt a X weapon in the view of modern eyes doesnt mean it wasnt used in that role… examples would be the MG43 or…[Read more] -
Nat replied to the topic Is the Warlord Army Builder ready to be officially used for Bolt Action Tournams in the forum Bolt Action 9 months, 1 week ago
Its still in beta, but aside from the fact that ALL types of soviet comissars disapeared last update is pretty much there.
Actually …. scrub that… cant use it today – no abilty to select a nation to create a list!

Nat replied to the topic Are non-unit entries (Commonwealth Rules, Additional Equipment) Tournament Legal in the forum Bolt Action 9 months, 1 week ago
The answer to that is very nebulus…
Its down to the TO…thats the bottom line of Tournaments.
Its their choice to what books they allow… they can over-ride the FAQ, and often do limiting armies to units from X books… Some will make allowances for a specifc army ie theirs a tournament near me that will only allow armies of books, but allow…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Artillery Observers in the forum Bolt Action 9 months, 2 weeks ago
The real observer was an expert. Specially trained and normally doing nothing else. A spotter was just an ordinary man that had a base training in gun spotting. Every officer and NCO had that ability in the big armies. So the different rules are historically correct.
But armies tended to misuse specialists. But mostly in desperate si…[Read more]

SteveT replied to the topic Tank "size"? Described or Damage Value? in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 1 week ago
The name of its entry in the Japanese forces book is something of a giveaway.
“TYPE 97 CHI-HA MEDIUM TANK”. :p
It mostly seems to be a criterion of which slot it gets put in armour lists, and/or how it was used, and yes, the bizarrely named “damage value”.
Tank size occasionally crops up in some rules: like a tank ramming a building, or (fr…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Wakeless in the forum Victory At Sea 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Wakeless rule is to show that the torpedo makes very little to no visable effect on the surface when traveling through the water…. note even when firing a wakeless torpedo from a submarine you still have the air bubble raising to the surface which in standard weather are visable.
Evade Order means that the ship is braced for sudden violent…[Read more]

SteveT replied to the topic Starting Hungarians- which book? in the forum Bolt Action 11 months ago
Each campaign book is a bit different. The early ones throw scenarios at you to pick and choose. Some campaign books present more balanced fights, while others tend to be a bit more historical you get what you get and good luck!.
Some later ones go for more a linked series feel, giving a very nice feel of events of the time. The very best on…[Read more]

SteveT replied to the topic Starting Hungarians- which book? in the forum Bolt Action 11 months ago
I wouldn’t worry about that. It is just stuff like late war tanks or specialised troops should not be in early war lists. It wouldn’t make any sense to have the end war high tech stuff steamrolling over 1941 opponents. You can always avoid even these few restrictions if you go down the generic reinforced platoon rule that can include pretty m…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Starting Hungarians- which book? in the forum Bolt Action 11 months ago
@Jermaine
Bolt Action is written as Rulebook + ‘armies of … ‘ plus one campaign book/ series.
Each campaign book /seriers (like Italy or DDay) are written as if the others dont exist*…. this means there may be some perculair interactions if you do use them together. However having said that most (but not all) units will have comments a…[Read more]
