Hi everyone,
I’m happy to see some activity around here (been quiet a lots myself).
Regarding plastic/metal/resin here are my thoughts:
– plastic are pretty nicely done even if there’s some wings warping (could be easily fixed with hot water). I tend to prefer those as they have deep grooves and are easier to apply wash. Also, tehy are toys,…[Read more]

Nice choices. I was recently thinking of forming a Chinese force from the Empires in Flames book, and saw it uses the BA20M armoured car, a variant of the Soviet BA20 but with same stats. The BA20 looks interesting as a fast moving flamethrower team with recce capability to escape attacks if needed.

1 x 12 man inexp rifle squad with AT grenades (these guys are free!)

What do you include in your favourite 1000 point force? My attached 1000 point US force consists of 2 platoons, each with 1 first lieutenant, 1 regular 6-man squad, 1 engineer team, 1 Chaffee and 1 M3 White Scout Car. Only difference is Platoon 1 has a Forward Air Observer while Platoon 2 has a heavy mortar.

Bolt Action 2nd Ed rules page 131:
If, on the other hand, they are chosen as one of the units you set-up on the table, or they are in the first wave, then their own special set-up rules take precedence. In this case, wait for the normal set up to be finished, and then set up any spotters /observers /snipers according to their special rules before…[Read more]

Charge The Guns replied to the topic Rules Question Thread in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 9 months ago
Hi Marecki, I interlopers the rules a bit differently to Nat. If you order the brigade to charge then they will all have to attempt to charge. However, as only one unit can contact, the remaining units will move so as to attempt to support the unit in contact. This is described on p61 of BP2.
This makes sense to me in broad terms. If, as the…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic Multiple automatic cannons. How to fire them. in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 9 months ago
Yes that’s my interpretation of the rules. If the target unit is not in a building, it gets 8×1″ templates. If it is jn a building it gets 8xD3 hits.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>It should be D3 damage for every hit scored. But they suffer only one batch of D2 pins as stated on page 72 of the 2nd Edition rulebook.</p>

general rule of thumb for a 4 x 6′ board at the club where I play is make a board that looks like a land mark that would be fought over… be it cross roads, a small village with a church, a river crossing etc
to do that you’ll want 7′ of river with at least 1 bridge and 2 crossings (you want a couple of bends in the river)
about the same in…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic Building question in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 9 months ago
They should be treated as in separate buildings, so they get hard cover. You imagine the units are hiding behind furniture, cupboards etc. You can also agree with your opponent that such cover are soft cover if you want.
All models that can draw line of sight to the target unit can fire. So as long as they can see each other, all models should…[Read more]

Stalingrad book page 163:
BUILDINGS WITH MULTIPLE FLOORS/SECTIONS
In the Bolt Action rulebook, buildings which suffer 10 or more hits from HE are destroyed completely and turned into rubble (HE Weapons Against Buildings, page 124). These rules were largely envisioned to be applied to small buildings, such as single-family residences. However,…[Read more] -
Charge The Guns replied to the topic Commander MacColla Unit and Disorder in the forum Pike & Shotte 3 years, 9 months ago
Hi Mark – I think the MacColla option here simply provides an additional unit for the 90 points cost as well as the commander himself. So, if you take MacColla as a commander you also get a ‘free’ small unit of bodyguard. MacColla still follow the same rules for Generals and Commanders on pages 84 and 85, including joining units, and vul…[Read more]

Hi Frank,
I’ve put the wardroom FAQ up in its own thread which covers a number of questions… but I’ll stress most are unoffical!!!
However to answer what you’ve asked
Tough – yes local 1 = impossible to shoot down a tough plane… however DP guns can! (the FAQ has a complete breakdown of how AA works)
Carrier points – yes at the moment..…[Read more]

Ah I see you mean for all the 3 MGs to have 360° arc of fire. I am guessing it will make the M3 too powerful with all 3 MGs firing simultaneously in the same arc, so currently only the 2 added MMGs can fire at the same target in the rear arc. It might also conflict with the platform mounted rules which allow a 360° firing arc as the 3 MGs are n…[Read more]
