SteveT replied to the topic Starting Hungarians- which book? in the forum Bolt Action 11 months ago
The new units in the Budapest book can be used in the Theatre Selectors in the Italy and Axis book, but some can only be used in later war ones.
It’s a good book, gives you some nice options.
3 new theatre selectors too:
Carpathian Mountains Border Guards Reinforced Platoon
Assault Artillery Battery Armoured Platoon
Hungarian Armoured Field…[Read more] -

You need the Italy and Axis book. The Budapest is scenarios plus a few new units.

I like your custom boom shits but that is another lesson learnt from mass air battle like this : not enough of them ^^
Your airfield is a killer too.

Nat replied to the topic Commissar?? in the forum Bolt Action 11 months, 2 weeks ago
No, remove models is a specific step that occurs after taking casulties.
You make your green check at the taking casulty step, so therefore the commissar bypasses this. However you havent suffered any casulties, therefore you can still take your green check if you then get shot later in the game.

Thanks Stuart. Replacing them with unarmed seems a bit silly. No pistols for you!

The German book has the option of a flamethrower team being repack with 2 one-shot weapons.
Now, it would seem from the rules that when the flamethrower is use in a one-shot way, the figure might still remain on the table. But unarmed (?) in this case.
Alternatively, I could see how the rules for depleted flamethrowers means the figure is…[Read more]

Hi Dennis – I’m not aware that Warlord have made any comment about Croats/Cossacks, yet. I suspect they would be in resin if they do them as I’m not sure they would go the plastic route for a troop type they might not sell very many of. Maybe they are waiting to see how many 30YW versions of the Epic stuff they sell first? You may need to lo…[Read more]

Yes, I have based my Napoleonic light horse with 4 horses, 5 for heavy so you can immediately see what is what. For ACW 4 seems good.

SteveT replied to the topic Epic frontages in the forum Black Powder 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Thanks Al. So when you did the ACW at 3 bases, did you use 3 bases for cavalry too? How about artillery, did you go 1 or 2 bases per “unit”?
Cheers

Yes, another questions about frontages..
According to the new “epic” booklet, atypical cavalry unit would have a smaller frontage than a standard infantry unit. (3 bases to 4). I thought the idea of BP was to ideally have units with matching frontages? (Otherwise what happens when 2 cavalry hit 1 infantry’s front… seems to have a game effect…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Rules Question: Hitting squad behind hard cover. in the forum Bolt Action 11 months, 3 weeks ago
The answer is simple – game balance (it stops you poking one guy out with say a rifle to put a pin on a unit while keeping the rest untouchable.) and to help (as the rulebook says it the same paragraph) give the impression that everything /model is fluid and in motion…
DOWN is the representation of infantrymen not moving and hiding…[Read more]

Your M5 Stuart with 18 shots …
Are you referring to the M3 Stuart?
The errata gives it 1 hull-mounted MMG, + 1 coaxial MMG (2×5 shots), option to take 2x hull-mounted LMGs (2×4 shots)? I don’t think the M5 Stuart has these options 🤔

Nat replied to the topic Rules Question: Hitting squad behind hard cover. in the forum Bolt Action 11 months, 3 weeks ago
yes…if you manage to roll that well!
lets see… M5 at 6″ away… thats +1 for range -2 for hard cover (over half the squad is out of sight behind hard cover) so hitting on 4s… that’d be 9 hits on average… against inexp 6 kills, against regulars thats 4 or 5…. if 5 kills then thats a moral check for the remaining 5 and possibly wipe…[Read more]

Garry Wills replied to the topic Terrifying charge rule question in the forum Black Powder 1 year ago
Great question. Yes I would say that the support units would also test for the reason you state. The rule as written suggests that the charge move is complete once the charging unit has made contact, but it also mentions pursuit moves. So this would imply that the charging unit gets a follow up move including a sweeping advance or charge d…[Read more]
