Hello
My scenario calls for 3 lb and 6 lb cannon. Are those light smoothbore artillery or smoothbore artillery? Please advise.

George started the topic Battle of Elixheim Scenario Question in the forum Black Powder 4 years ago
Hello,
I’m new to Black Powder. I can’t wait to start playing it. I’m building the first scenario, The Battle of Elixheim to play. I’m using 28mm scale.
I’m starting with the Franco/Bavarian army.
According to the instructions, My infantry should be 4 brigades with 3 units(battalions) each. so I’m making 12 units of 16 figure models on 4…[Read more]

Each platoon must have a junior field officer (lieutant) and can have a senior field officer (captain or Major)…. yes this means you could have 2 majors in 2 platoons…. :
Its only the characters who are limited to 1 per army (and they are all in the top secret call out boxes and are opponents consent)

Hello all,
If I have a large force with say 2 platoons, can I but stuff in the HQ part of the army twice over?
e.g.If I have 3 platoons could I have, in theory, a medic in each?
Or is the HQ considered as being once per army?
Cheers

The true national TYW French looked a bit different, more finges….. -) But the mercenary armies fighting in Germany had few of them. Most looked like typical late TYW Germans. Unfortunately the Warlord miniatures re designed for ECW, often not 100 % identical.
As asked for I add some 1672 French pics.

Another great battle report, JW. It is interesting to see the expansion in remote gaming that happened in the pandemic.

Hi Tatertron – welcome to the Pike and Shotte period! A very colourful and interesting place to wargame. The Thirty Years War is one of my favourite conflicts for games. The Sun King armies shown in the rule book are really a slightly later part of the period and typically people don’t mix TYW and the later half of the 17th century armies t…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I’m in the mood of creating some token to track the laden status during a game but as I didn’t experience the rule so far I’m asking those who already played it some advice about two specific points:
– what is better to use, a token to show that a plane has the laden status (then remove it once load dropped) or a token that show an…[Read more] -

They don’t remove pins, but everyone fights as if they have no pins. There is no ‘to hit’, only to wound rolls made.
If you’re being charged and wanting to shoot the oncoming enemy, pins still apply and i think range is calculated from the distance the model declared the charge. Hope this helped.

Hmm, there are very good French soldiers available for early Louis XIV time. Including the Musketeers. Google for 1672 . Infantry still with pikes and no bayonets like in TYW. I did a larger French force (and 1672 Dutch, Spanish, Austrian and English) and like them a lot.
A certain Nottingham company did some French TYW foot long ago,…[Read more]
