Its as clear as mud!
Do you drop the DC at any point in your movement or only at the end (ie when you would normally do your shooting) ?
– With the talk of highly likely Ramming, it sounds like you should only be able to drop them at the end.
Can you do this in addition to your shooting?
– nothing saying otherwise
Is it a Ram (ie…[Read more]

Garry Wills replied to the topic Howitzers in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 2 months ago
The benefit being that the Howitzer hit is -2 to the morale save of the target regardless of range. Your suggestion is an interesting one but the morale save effect is based on the fire of a whole battery of howitzers. So I am not sure I would use it. Looking at the statistics the benefit of the howitzer is within the D6 variability, which is…[Read more]

Before the Battle for France book the war reporting team had these rules:
Simpler to use.

Seems the rule is not mich used????
I got questions about the gun in background. It’s a 21 cm Mörser 18, the main heavy gun of Wehrmacht. More than 700 made and in front use.
.
The metal model is from a German maker. Some 30+ years old and very rare today. It was long on my wishing list. The maker only delivered it assembled and so th…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic Angle of impact in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
I think while the firer’s line of sight might see 2 sides of the target, the firer’s gun barrel will only enter one arc of the target, unless the firer is so (un)lucky that the gun barrel lies exactly on the line that divides the front and side (or side and rear) arcs of the target. In which case I would use the “better” armour class … otherwise…[Read more]

Hmm but what if the arc covers 2 sides?
Cheers

Nat replied to the topic Angle of impact in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
you hit the side you are in the arc of even if you cant see that side … see the rule book for concealment of vehicles where it talks about not being able to see the front of a tank but work out the shot V the front

Can an AT weapon be fired at infantry? If so , assuming an AT projectile is being fired from that weapon, do you roll to hit just one man and applying the penetration roll to the unfortunate soul?
Thank you

Help again, sorry to bother you all with my rules questions. Hopefully others will benefit from your responses too.
How do we know the angle of impact if a tank shoots another. A current, for example, should perhaps hit the front or the side. Do we choose the best, and if so fo we choose the best angle for the shooter or defender?
Thanks

Hello all….
A self-propelled gun like a STUG. Is it really allowed a firing arc, since it has no pivoting ability at all? If it is allowed, if it fires as part of an ambush are we supposed to rotate the model so the line reaches from the barrel to the target?
Thanks

re the whole dry land or dead thing… 1 thing i’ve learned about house rules is they need to be concise and flow & also on this forum I try and make generic suggestions as I dont know your terrain :p
I mean the river could be all imparsable to infantry or the 2″ closesest to a bank could be difficult terrain etc etc

invisible officer replied to the topic British & KGL Hussars In Spain in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 3 months ago
Well, hmmmm. The problem is Action dress. The slung pelisse cave some protection against sword cuts as did the busby and Tschako.
So many Hussars came to the dance without but put them on directly before action.
But doing the classic hussar work – scouting? Riding for hours in heat and dust?

More Questions –
I know its been asked before, but not answered…. so here’s the question again.
When shooting at ships do Shin’yo rockets suffer -3 to hit or -4?
‘normal’ rockets suffer -1 when shooting at land targets & -2 when shooting as naval targets, so with the wording of shin-yo’s suffering -3 instead of the normal -1 do they suffer…[Read more]

PM sent. 😉
Yes, the original Light Dragoons had Hussar Dress in Peninsula. Before there was a slow Change from light draggon Dress in 1st and 2nd. The 3rd Regiment was the first to appear completely in hussar fashion, as its colonel Johann Georg v. Reden procured fur to add to the pelisse, introduced the fur cap and allowed the wearing of…[Read more]

Garry Wills replied to the topic Regimental Gun Battery in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 3 months ago
Presumably you are talking about Clash of Eagles; these companies are 3pdr guns with a range of just 24 inches which is worth 8 points, the close combat is 1 point, the morale 6 points and the stamina 4 points. The text also says that the shooting stats would be 2/2/1 rather than 3/2/1. This is also for 6 guns – a 2 gun section would be different.
