Shoot at them before they get in range?
Also, one obvious point – if it was only alight if they cause a hit on the occupants – what if no one is in the house?

Dr Dave replied to the topic Infantry Large units shooting compared to standard sized units in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 7 months ago
We’ve always played mixed formation gets one die. It’s all a fudge anyway. French line 1/6 skirmish – so about 100 men in reality. In a British bttn it’s only 1/10, so about 60 men. The questions should be is the effect about right. I think the answer is “yes”.

Don’t forget as well that in AT2 they are in standard size units. In really they should probably all be small or tiny size units. Since BP2 tiny is limited to skirmish types so the tiny ones, if using BP2, should be brigaded together into small or standard units. The fact that they are so “small” is easy to remember. It’s the same word used to…[Read more]

All sorted chaps – but thanks. My Churchills will finally have the proper track links on them.

The Warlord pack is “sold out” so it looks like it can’t be ordered. Is there another source in 1/56th, besides buying a Sherman just for the tracks!

RUB: Really Useful Boxes.
The 4 Lt variety are the best. They’re tough and stackable.

Yes – that’s what I wondered – but is it the 1812 style or 1815? Or would the latter type bring back bad memories and bring on their night terrors? You know what these fellows are like.

Pondering the F-P war. I’ve read that French Eagles were issued to infantry at one per regt, carried by the 1st or 2nd battalion and look remarkably like the 1812 issue during the 1st Empire. I’ve also read that whilst the tricolour was attached to the eagle, the other battalions carried “fanions”. Does anyone have any idea what these looked like?

It is as you all say “a game”. But – if you dare to look it up – I’d point you to the near comical circumstances surrounding the loss of the Hermenegildo and the Real Carlos, two first rate vessels… it really is Superb!
The awful fact is that The Royal Navy held the Spanish navy in utter contempt – this is not my view – it is the view of the RN…[Read more]

Dr Dave replied to the topic British & KGL Hussars In Spain in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 7 months ago
Oh Lord! What to do? I was pondering a compromise and use “green stuff” to add fur trim to their dolmans so that it would look as though they were wearing the pelisse, perhaps over the dolman. The problem there is that the figures are a little slender, so it might not end up with the necessary bulk of a pelisse over a dolman. It might be time for…[Read more]

The 3x KGL hussar regts are full on proper hussars. There are British regts listed as light dragoons, but they dress as hussars. But from 1810-1813 it’s only the KGL hussars in Spain anyway. Then in 1813 British brigade of 3 regts arrived. Either way, they are real hussars with all the trimmings.
I’ve done 3x french hussar regts in campaign dr…[Read more]

Ahhhh. You misunderstand. Not worn over the shoulder. I mean pelise totally absent, back with the regt baggage or in camp. Not worn. Missing. Gone. Sans pelise so to speak.

So, simple question: pelises on or off?
Any views, or better still – evidence?
