Hello,
I played a 3rd solitaire battle. A leader was killed when the cavalry unit he joined was defeated in hand to hand combat. It took 4 casualties and had to retreat a move. The leader took 4 loss rolls and one of them was a 6. Therefore, the brigadier general is killed, wounded, or captured.
So, what I’m not finding in the rules is what now…[Read more]

George replied to the topic Beginners Question About Frontages in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 7 months ago
Hello, I’m a new player too but I’ve learned some things. One thing to keep in mind when building an army is how much playing space do you have. If you have a 6’x4′ table as I do you won’t be able to play large engagements in 28 mm unless you use 3 or 2 base units. Perhaps even 1 base for small and individual for tiny units! Also, you then need to…[Read more]

Hello,
I fought a 2nd battle this week. The report can be found on my blog at:

I called my battle “The Battle of Many Mistakes” because I sure made a lot of them. Not upset though. These are test games to learn. I plan to take my game to school this week to…[Read more]

Thanks Big Al but back to you said. What is the uphill advantage? I’m not reading it in the BP 2nd Ed. rules.

I’m American, too. I’m wondering if we can request, if on is willing to pay for it, for a professional carrier such as DHL, UPS, or FedEx to deliver packages?

Wow. I’m sorry that happened to your order. Just thinking this through a little though. Are you in England? If not, did your package go through customs and get inspected? I’ve gotten packages opened before and resealed by customs.

Big Al, you say “There is an uphill advantage during combat which you lose if you are pushed back.” I’m going into the rules trying to find that uphill advantage. I can’t find it. What is that advantage?

Okay, more to ask.
6. There seem to be no movement penalties for moving up a hill or down one. Am I missing something? Shouldn’t I slow down a bit going up a hill?

Hello,
Well I got two armies now. One is Dutch (under a British COC) and the the other is Bavarian (under a French COC). Each army has a 3 regiment brigade of cavalry, a 3 battalion brigade of infantry, and a battery of 8lb smoothbore artillery.
So, I played a solitaire first game with Black Powder rules. I enjoyed testing the rules but came up…[Read more]

Also, this leads to a peeve i’m having with the scenario rules. Map sizes aren’t given. I get this in that playing with different size miniatures will mean different size maps (6 mm require less battle mat than 28 mm). I wish a chart was made for the scenarios giving recommended sizes for the type of miniatures being used (i.e. “In this scenario…[Read more]

Hello again,
Developing my first battlefield for Elixheim. I went cheap for starters. Bought a 6′ x 4′ green felt fabric to be my battle mat and some other felt fabrics to be my rivers, roads, and fields.
The fields turn out be be very small if I go exactly with images from the map on the battlefield. I’ll probably fudge this to make the…[Read more]

George replied to the topic Plug Bayonets Question in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 10 months ago
That’s correct. Plug bayonets had there handle ends shoved up the gun barrels with the blades sticking out so they were hard to dislodge once inserted. Hurt the English when fighting the Scots at the battle of Killiecrankie. The Scots got up close to the English. The English tried to insert their plug bayonets but couldn’t get them inserted in…[Read more]
