No you can’t give any orders to units in Hand to Hand combat.

Nat replied to the topic no lmgs in folgore in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 4 months ago
Intresting… (just doing a bit of reading up) Folgore was a single poorly equiped division (& was destroyed in the 2nd battle of El Alamein (the one british history remembers, but doesnt remember the Italins in it!).
So the Western Desert book having them without LMGs, but SMGs to make up for it is possible

SteveT replied to the topic no lmgs in folgore in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 4 months ago
Yes, exactly what Nat was saying. Do not expect consistency or fine-tuned balanced in some of the campaign books, as they were often design as stand alone experiences.
It could also simply be they missed the LMG line in Western Desert, but it has not yet been picked up in Errata. It is very odd that an infantry unit not to have that, unless t…[Read more]

No, their rules dont state that they have to be deployed… so (IIRC) the concensouse on FB groups is just having them in your list is enough

Nat replied to the topic Its So Difficult to Hit in the forum Blood Red Skies 1 year, 5 months ago
Dont forget that if you hit the opponent takes a boom chit… boom chits win games not shooting down planes (although that helps :p)
EG you hit, opponent takes a boom chit they then try and save the damage (lose of advantage level)… when boom chits = planes +1 then they run away.

points on campaign books….
i) they are all (except when in a seriers like DDay or Italy) independant of each other – they like to pretend that only they, the core rulebook & armies of… books exist
ii) often they have completely different authors (this is why the same unit can have different rules!). The Author will put in the rules they…[Read more] -

Nat replied to the topic AA with no Range- and AD-data, equipped with the "Local X"-Trait: What Range? in the forum Victory At Sea 1 year, 5 months ago
Ok… Local X has two parts.
Part 1 – If an enemy flight crosses its base during the movement phase you get X = AD against that one flight (remember flights move one at a time)
Part 2 – In the AA step of the gunnery phase you get to add X AD to the AA pool, but must target enemy flights in base contact with your ship. Note some times these die…[Read more] -

Can I just ask where you get 8 attacks for the Attack Column? For that matter, why have the British got 9 attacks? If these are standard units, they only have 6 attacks, 8 if a large unit.
Your example also shows why Useful Rules should be applied carefully and sparingly, not loading up and making units invincible.
something else that you have…[Read more]

There is certainly a case that these units are given too many bonuses and special rules, however one thing I do is modify the close combat such that if an attack column charges into contact and fails to break their opponent, then they are forced into a disordered line formation, losing the +1 attack column bonus. This is a beefed up version of the…[Read more]

Big Al replied to the topic charge distance in the forum Black Powder 1 year, 5 months ago
Yes it can. As the rules state, a charge order is just a mechanic to get a unit to move into contact. Without it a unit cannot make contact with an enemy unit.
You can issue a Charge order from any distance, but what it means is that the unit must make full moves until it makes contact with an enemy. If it doesn’t contact an enemy, it does not m…[Read more] -

Well…. one issue is which motorbike unit… (there are a couple of motorbike and sidecar units that go in the armoured car slot and have a higher DV)
I would personally NOT classify them as infantry whilest mounted (including bicyle and cavalry units) because they have taken the transport upgrade option…. however I dont think theres any rules…[Read more]

°From what I can tell british line infantry could be used if I paint the shakos red. The prussian landwehr sprue for the landwehr, and the british ranked rifles as jagers. Ideally we’d have models with the distinctive red hats instead of shakos, but baring that is this a reasonable aproach”
The shako was never red, only the forage cap- So yo…[Read more]
