Nat replied to the topic HQs doing Snap to Attention inside a transport in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
The answer is simplicity & the fact that the other rules that affect troops in transports (moral & tiger fear) have been updated since BA was first released….. (tiger fear in the last couple of years)
Basically now its passive rules apply to units inside transports but active rules dont. (ok this falls down on medic saves – but I’d be happy…[Read more]

From the rule book:
“Units inside transports cannot be influenced by beneficial friendly rules either, such as the morale bonus or ‘You men snap to action’ ability of an officer near the vehicle.
Officers and other HQ units can potentially ride in vehicles, and as a general rule, their special abilities do not work while they are being tra…[Read more]

The nine barrels of Fliegerfaust B produced a shotgun effect. At 500 m it was a 60 m circle. So one can expect just one or two its. And the expected 500 m range was never reached with the pre series front trial weapons. The circle was reported as 10% of range, so 10 m at 100 m.
Around Saarbrücken a few of the front test series got used but sco…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Is there a specialized rule for Panzergranadiers debussing from a Transport? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
Hmm….
At best that would be a campaign book rule…and one that should be left in the books campaign….
Most likely a ‘historical makes sense’ house rule or a mixup of rules
Worst case – totally incorrect rules
Outside of a campaign book rule – yes the grenadiers’ would need a order die pulled from the bag to disembark

invisible officer replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
Its the typical rules wording over real world BA tournament fuss. One reason why I avoid these like hell.
With the German army having no long Gewehr since 1935, but just a Karabiner / Carbine for all arms , that is just nuts. That a writer did name the K98 k by mistake a rifle is for some anal tournament rule lawyers heavenly given law. In WW 2…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
I read that as a clarification and historic usage (cavalary use carbines, we’re talking about cavalry so we’ll use the word carbines**). But due to the way the book is written this can turn in to a circular argument*…. and so I’m going to agree to disagree as the real issue is that Warlord do Frame work books not water tight rules… Yes I D…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
“My opponent stated that my mounted German HQ could NOT have rifle carbines, as the officer slot in the Armies of Germany only state that I can have the models having: “pistols, rifles, assaults rifles, or SMGs”, specially – that I could equip the models with rifles but not carbines ”
Wow, what a nonsense. The Geman army standard rifle …[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
@StuartHarrison …what is “considered as” if not “used as”? – its that they use the stats and rules… same thing as being used as.
@Neely – as said, where in the weapon rules do carbines exist?
In fact they are explicity the same entry! If you look under weapons (again sorry cant give page number)
“Type: this is a generic description that…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
Well, you are both wrong to an extent as it goes like this:
1) Carbines as a seperate weapon dont exist in the rules…
2) Rifles are used as pistols while mounted (see below… dont have the page numbers as my PC rulebook is a printed to pdf ebook)
3) Cossacks have a special UNIT rule that allows them to use their rifles as rifles whilest…[Read more] -
Nat replied to the topic Boarding in the forum Black Seas 1 year, 7 months ago
As skymandr said….Its a case of after the initial boarding action then there are no inherant bonuses (ships equipment like Trained Marines will still apply) however you can attempt to pull away, but basically the boarding action continues until one of:
a) one ship falls below the threshold and surrenders
b) one ship disengages and sails…[Read more] -

Nat replied to the topic Bulgarian Units in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 7 months ago
The issue(s) is simple
Warlord write rulebooks as framework not rulesets….they are the starting point for you and your club /gaming circle to start with – they are NOT written for pickup gaming between complete strangers :/ (yes a number of the authors have the mindset of once you’ve brought the book its your game change a you want)
The Bolt…[Read more] -

Because (and this IS something I’ve said to the author should have been stated 🙁 ) the rules dont make it clear how they got the stats….
Its the type of gun (not all 5″ guns are the same… ie 5″/54 or 5″/38)
Type of mount
Type of range finding and gun control
Type & quality of ammunitionThis is why two ships that had the same guns (like the…[Read more]

You do whatever you see fit.
personally, I just switch inches to centimetres Works well and no maths involved whatsoever. All distances are the same, just the measurement type is changed.
some like to use 2/3rds distances but that involves maths on everything and means that you have to rewrite, or recreate a QRS. A lot of work involved compared…[Read more]
