Nat replied to the topic 2 queries -preparatory bombardment and assaulting BUA's in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 2 months ago
Well outside of a siege prepapatory bombardments wouldnt really be more than a free round of shooting from the artillery (if in range)…. if your using the skipping shells rules from Clash of Eagles (& I think Albion 2) then I could see a use for it.
FIBUA, this is always hard to get right with abstract rules…by that I mean the risk /reward…[Read more]

As Nat has said, the supplements were all written with V1 of the rules in mind.
There are a couple of things to consider and the main one is that the rules in the supplements are just suggested alternatives or additions. It is up to you whether you use them or not or even to tweak them. They are not actual rules replacements, just…[Read more]

Albion 1 +2 (+ clash of Eagles) are V1 rulebooks….and written in a gentelmans framework not a tight ruleset like modern games.
However a Break through move is used to describe what a sweeping advance is… (In an ideal world / tight ruleset the rule would say must make a Sweeping Advance and move maxamuim distance even it it takes them off the…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Attacking bunkers in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 2 months ago
HE v Buildings… yep they ignore the -2 cover for being in a building (because they are hitting the building)… so following on yep 2″ v bunker = pins only
Yep the rules dont say anything (that I can see on a quick flick through) about not applying PINs or limiting them
Assaulting any building has to be done through entrances … so windows,…[Read more]

Yes bunker = a -4 cover mod so snipers (& flamethrowers) ignore it!
Most shooting at bunkers is hail marys (aka 7+ to hit… :p 6 followed by a 6)HE… can always target buildings ignoring cover mods!.. however you dont get to roll damage against models inside, & you need 12 hits to bring a bunker down…. so 3 or 4″ template only
Other me…[Read more]

Nice to see a game in a school group. In Germany a teacher doing that would get fired. 101% Pacifism- Not seeing the difference between game and real world. But all playing on computer. Hack and slay.

Big Al replied to the topic Break tests in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 2 months ago
Yes they do! That is, any unit that is in a position to support (within 6 inches of the unit fighting the combat), regardless of whether it was used as a support or not, must take a break test if the friendly fighting unit breaks! This only applies to a hand to hand combat situation and not shooting. Supports don’t count during shooting.

Most Kriegstagebücher / KTB up to 1943 survived and a lot of the later. They are not published in Internet and very few got printed, excerps only. They belong to the Bundesarchiv Abteilung Militärarchiv and can be read there.
Being a professional historian I spend much more time in archives than most peoples. Including many authors of war boo…[Read more]

Big Al replied to the topic One vs Two in hand to hand in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 2 months ago
Yes, both flanked units can fight because they didn’t charge or attack. They were attacked and one of them will have been an incidental contact.
Yes, one of the units will become disengaged because there is no room for them both. The other way of looking at it would be that the single unit centre must contact the enemy unit that it is fighting, s…[Read more]

Big Al replied to the topic One vs Two in hand to hand in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 2 months ago
Not quite. They get to turn to face, but only one unit can fight in the next round because of the rule which only allows one unit to fight in an enemy unit’s quarter. So one will stand while the other moves to one side and supports.
Don’t forget that all units attacked in the flank can only place half of its attacks (rounded down) to the fla…[Read more]

Like all good invented stories the veteran one sound well. But is still an invention.
The men from 1. Fj Rgt that fought in Holland 1940 wore Heer color trousers and LW blue jackets. Anything not covered by the Knochensack was Feldgrau in the Holland actions. Even the helmet was painted field grey. So a veteran would not wear LW blue tr…[Read more]

Another nice WW I item!
But a question, why the dress colors???? The K Flak units belomged to the Heer and so they wore normal artillery stuff. That brown legwear would have made the Batteriefeldwebel jump in squares.
Feldgrau came in many shades, too many producers. But there was ever enough to dress all men in that. Motor troops had a…[Read more]

Craig replied to the topic Warlord Resin – removing mould lines? in the forum General Discussion 3 years, 3 months ago
To clean its mould lines, the most important thing to have is a very sharp blade; the second is to avoid “scraping” the line but to prefer going for clean and straight cuts.
You can use files on surfaces that are more open and accessible, but filing or scraping the surface may create residues that do not fall off like they do with metal and…[Read more] -
