Craig replied to the topic Warlord Resin – removing mould lines? in the forum General Discussion 4 years ago
To clean its mould lines, the most important thing to have is a very sharp blade; the second is to avoid “scraping” the line but to prefer going for clean and straight cuts.
You can use files on surfaces that are more open and accessible, but filing or scraping the surface may create residues that do not fall off like they do with metal and…[Read more] -

Garry Wills replied to the topic Free moves page 34 in the forum Black Powder 4 years ago
Hi CtG, I see your reasoning but I was sticking to RAW. With your example I think it is even more important that the RAW approach is taken, BP’s strength is the randomness it brings to command and movement. No units are exempt from friction. Good discussion though.

Garry Wills replied to the topic Free moves page 34 in the forum Black Powder 4 years ago
I am sorry CtG, free moves are only available to units that failed their command roll. First para of p.34. Hence some units with free moves won’t get them if they are not ordered for whatever reason.

Very nice.
Bolt action is much better to the Eastern WW I front than the Western.

Big Al replied to the topic Winning units in hand to hand combat, do they test if they have excess hits? in the forum Black Powder 4 years ago
Yup! As Garry has said. The rule book actually describes it as the victorious unit is so euphoric about winning that it ignores its casualties and so doesn’t have to test. As it has received excess casualties, the unit is now shaken, asHarry has mentioned. This means that it cannot initiate combat, but will still fight if attacked. It suffers -1 t…[Read more]

No it doesn’t test. The excess casualties are just removed. I know it seems odd but that is what happens. The winners of the melee are still shaken and so are vulnerable to any counterattack.

Nat replied to the topic Italian rules: NO RUN! in the forum Bolt Action 4 years ago
In situations like this (improvable object meets unstoppable force) I normally follow the rule of must over rides cant.
So the cant run stipulation doesnt stop a unit from receiving a run order but rather moving at double speed. As an large gun being man handled cant move at double speed anyway I’d say it can still move. However that in…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Bolt action infantry base size in the forum Bolt Action 4 years ago
It’s no big problem. In worst case just use a 25 mm base as template.
If you prefer a 20mm for look or other reasons feel free. Rule systems come and go but armies stay. 😉

Nat replied to the topic Aircraft queries – shooting with and at in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years ago
@enoich – Only thing I’d say is when talking about dogfight rules use flights not planes so as not to add any confusion about the aircraft X trait supplying observer planes. Otherwise yeah I agree with it all!

invisible officer replied to the topic U-552 VII C or : Size Matters in the forum Cruel Seas 4 years ago
I can live with the scale difference, compared to the Warlord 1935 M-Boot it’s OK, just because that is too small too. But compared to the S-Boot its flimsy.
So I will use it but its far from ideal.

The kit offers three versions, differing only from the decals. I choose U 552. I like the rd devils at tower of the “Teufelsboot”.
Built at Blohm & Voss Hamburg U 552 went into service 4th December 1940. 15 missions with 7. Flottille. with 30 merchants and destroyers HMS Allouette and USS Reuben James sunk. Reuben James was sunk i…[Read more]

1/300 or 1/350, matching or not? For most gamers that’s no question and so they use them together. I’m a bit more anal on that, I see the difference. So did not buy the kit of the German company from Bünde.
Nor a visiting friend brought it “instead of flowers”. He knew that I do 1/300 ships and asked in a shop for a WW II model in tha…[Read more]
