Nat replied to the topic Some Rule Question in the forum Victory At Sea 3 years, 8 months ago
On the note about submarines… they are a class of ship + its a trait. So the same overlap rules apply to everything with a base….
My point about the objectives is change it up and make it so that going evade all the time puts you at a tactical dis-advantage
maybe insteand of 3 or 4 Islands put a fair sized land mass in one quarter and an…[Read more] -
Nat replied to the topic Some Rule Question in the forum Victory At Sea 3 years, 8 months ago
Well dont forget that you also half your avalible flank speed* when you do an evade order (so a ship with flank 5 drops to 3) & it also means you are limited to 1 45deg turn (unless agile or you start at speed 7). It alsom means that unless the ship is a destroyer it cant gain the -1 for speed, so yes you are forcing a re-roll…. but whats…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Detecting Submarines not yet on the board in the forum Victory At Sea 3 years, 8 months ago
Well, the nerd answer 😉 Not based on the rules .
German Funkmessgeräte (~ Radar) had no chance to detect a periscope. But British / US Radar had a fair one. So the U-Boot snorkel and periscope in late war got a waffled rubber plating. Sometimes it helped, sometimes…… Against a surface(d) vessel the German systems worked well…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Is the Commonwealth box set usable for Pacific? in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 8 months ago
“Pacific” is too broad to anwer yes or no. It depends on the exact area. The later war Shorts Jungle green are worn in regions without much Malaria only. So rarely seen in jungle. And not in many Italian regions, so 8th army had to change to full length trousers.
In 42 some units in Burma fought in KD with shorts. Gloucestershire rgt for ex…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Detecting Submarines not yet on the board in the forum Victory At Sea 3 years, 8 months ago
The simple answer is it doesnt! But thats because radar is only used on surfaced subs, and other surface vessels, and not submereged /Deep Diving Subs. This is why I call submarines not on th board ‘hidden’…. and thinking about it, instead of detected it should really be called discovered.
Radar’s use of the word detected means that a sh…[Read more]

No. You are shooting at the skirmishers who are in Open Order and already enjoy all of the benefits of that formation. You can’t have it both ways!

Not enough vessels (and not enough space) for the full Komet action.

I based my model on L 36 ESKDALE . It was ordered 23rd August 1940 at Cammel Laird, Birkenhead and laid down 18th January 1941. Launched 16th March 1942 it was the first RN vessel of that name, named after a Cumberland fox hound. Completed 31st July 1942 it had been transferred to the exile Norwegian navy. It re…[Read more]

With a Hunt I and some Torpedoboote done it was just a question of time that I „needed“ a Hunt III.
Hunt II and III had a hull that was a little wider than Hunt I to gain more stability. Stacks, masts, bridges, everything a bit different. So the II type could carry three twin 4” / 10,5 cm gun mounts. But the torpedo advocates asked for a to…[Read more]

It would be unrealistic for ww2 Japanese soldiers to be the same height as their western counterparts. But whether this by happenstance or design is another question.

invisible officer replied to the topic KETTENKRAD oddity in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 8 months ago
It was used as an artillery tow. But not a single one. Each 10,5 cm Gebirgshaubitze for example was transported with 5 Kettenkräder. Amo was in trailers.
The Kettenkrad was used in batteries of Fallschirm- and Gebirgs divisions. They often had it in AT natteries too.
It was not used as AT tow in normal divisions. It was the vehic…[Read more]

From Germany forces book: “It could carry three men (one driver and two passengers)” and “Transport: Up to 3 men.”
If it can transport 3 men, shouldn’t that be 1 driver and 3 passengers?
If its 3 in total, then what happens if my 3-man squad leaps off it, leaving behind a Inexperienced, Regular, or Veteran transport – but in that case what d…[Read more]

Garry Wills replied to the topic Pursuit (Sweeping Advance) Questions in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 8 months ago
The one thing that concerns me about the close combat in Black Powder, is the follow up a retiring enemy. I would prefer close combat to be short and therefore would prefer follow ups to be restricted to Sweeping Advance/Charge. Otherwise I think BP works well, especially if we remember that cavalry always retire from drawn combats.

Have you tried the UPS tracking option? You should have got the code with sending confirmation. Warlord have just the same you have there, so no answer may be because they could just answer: No idea.

They only list the Calibre, not all guns of the same calibre and the same type /make even within nations & classes…. so not all 8″ guns are…[Read more]

Strategical the Tarento attack was just one part of M.B. 8. Five convois under protection of all Med RN fleet. The Italians did not gain a picture of all that and so the battlesips stayed in harbor. The Italian air force was scattered and many recce planes got shot down.
Illustrious first role was to support the fleet in Eastern Med. . The ra…[Read more]
