Ok got my pdf rule versionon to the iPad!

Sorry the formation is just called skirmish order as stated pg 22 in the v2 pdf.   Pg 24 makes it quite clear that tiny units can only be in skirmish order, so they can’t form square.

also in Napoleonic you can have normal and large units in skirmish order…

  • @Bert – Yes, the Proximity Rule is all important and always applies.

@Nat – I assume we are talking Napoleonic, so yes. All regular infantry has the Must Form Square Rule, even those in Open Order. There isn’t a formation called “skirmisher”. A unit that is skirmishing is a regular small or tiny unit that is operating in Open Order.

Do tiny infantry have must form square?  I thought they could only form skirmish formation?

  • 1) If the cavalry is within proximity, it can only move into its front or rear quarter. The rule on page 36 states that it is obliged to move “more or less” straight forward or straight back. So, whether it can charge and which unit it can charge, depends totally on which unit falls within its front quarter. According to your example, it sou…[Read more]

just to clarify  turrets can rotate unless they’ve suffered a turret jam result then they are locked in to a set arc….although I know not all clubs play the turret jam rules…

A tank is a unit the same as an MMG team or a rifle squad and doesnt have an exception in the rule to how orders work….Basically if it doesnt have an ambush order or no order next to it then no it cant reaction fire.

  • If a tank is assaulted by infantry, let’s say from more than 6″ away, does the tank always get to fire, even if it has fired already this turn?

    Unsure.

    Thank you

They are rare if using the lists to create your army

In Albion Triumphant 1, (mid + late), and clash of Eagles  they are limited to 1 regiment per brigade (so you could have up to 4 /5 battalions in a single brigade as Legere) and  in AT2 only 1 in 4 battalions can be upgraded to Legere across the whole army!

We should also do everything we can to support local shops and gaming stores if we can, these are extremely important.

  • Having trouble figuring out the 2 body pieces and how they attach to the waist. However I do it, I get a sort of gap near the waist. Perplexing.

Anyone else had problems or know of any detailed instructions?

They dont lower the shooting dice in skirmish order as the whole unit skirmishes.  Its only mixed formations that drop shooting down to 1.

Legere units can be ordered in to Line, mixed line, assault coloumn, mixed assault coloumn, square, coloumn of companies (Clash of Eagles), Marching Coloumn or Skirmish formation.

You pay 3 points to add the…[Read more]

  • Yes, remember that Clash of Eagles was written and published well before the second edition of the Black Powder rulebook. So, the references to the main rulebook are the first edition rulebook.

Generally, the supplements are compatible with BP2 but not 100% compatible, like the example you have asked about.

  • Intresting conundrum here…. I suppose because I’ve only played the game against beer & preztel gamers or historical gamers we’ve always tried lone wolf or pairs … we’ve also not played at about 600 points .. so 4 -5 planes with a mix of pilot skills

Now I’d think about dropping the points but not the board size… also play around with what…[Read more]

  • My base of choice is high enough to give a good grip option. Not making the guys touch the miniature.  Much less breaking or bending.

It is also easier to paint with such a handle.      Clear plastic is no option for me. It is not invisible. And my big guns are far too heavy, my 21 cm mortar would break clear plastic.

    My material is cheap…[Read more]

  • Hmm, that RM project looks like a peasant’s cart, not  a military one.

Why are peoples not using the superb Warlord one?

New stuff? I would be much more happy with a field kitchen or the German amo  cart.

  • I use the Warlord round ones for all team weapons as so far they all fit.

For all artillery I use a consistent size as I like conformity in the game —6cm x 12cm MDF—  either bought as such or cut myself from long pieces from the art shop, works out very inexpensive indeed. The material seems to adhere well to metal (and all artillery I have is m…[Read more]

Yeah it was a confusion over team weapon crew losses vs artillery crew losses.  Wonder why they decided to treat them differently…

    Cheers
