Nat replied to the topic Rules Question: Hitting squad behind hard cover. in the forum Bolt Action 11 months, 3 weeks ago
The answer is simple – game balance (it stops you poking one guy out with say a rifle to put a pin on a unit while keeping the rest untouchable.) and to help (as the rulebook says it the same paragraph) give the impression that everything /model is fluid and in motion…
DOWN is the representation of infantrymen not moving and hiding…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Rules Question: Hitting squad behind hard cover. in the forum Bolt Action 11 months, 3 weeks ago
yes…if you manage to roll that well!
lets see… M5 at 6″ away… thats +1 for range -2 for hard cover (over half the squad is out of sight behind hard cover) so hitting on 4s… that’d be 9 hits on average… against inexp 6 kills, against regulars thats 4 or 5…. if 5 kills then thats a moral check for the remaining 5 and possibly wipe…[Read more]

I second Garry’s answer. Nothing more to add to it except that you should remember that all units that are in a position to support will be affected. This is regardless of whether they were used as support or not.
as you know, only three units can support a unit in combat, but there could be more than three units in a position of support. it i…[Read more] -

Great question. Yes I would say that the support units would also test for the reason you state. The rule as written suggests that the charge move is complete once the charging unit has made contact, but it also mentions pursuit moves. So this would imply that the charging unit gets a follow up move including a sweeping advance or charge d…[Read more]

Now I dont have epic BP…..
But independant units shouldnt count towards brigades breaking but SHOULD count towards to overal army…. ie I’d count them as an unbrakeable brigade of mauraders who’s brigade commander is your army commander.
Also the French wining by taking the LaHaye Sainte only fits with the history of the battle.

argh… take 2…
1) WarLord rules are frame-work not pickup tight rules…they are still written in the 1980s mindset of you play with mates and alter the rules to fit what you want2) Extra stands are due to allowing for breakages, as well as fitting the most possible models on a sprue to keep costs down (for us the gamers as well as…[Read more]

The game is based on being simple.. not realistic..
1. the bow must be pointing at the board edge marked as the wind… so if the right hand side to you was marked as the wind then so long as your bow is pinting at SOME POINT of that edge they your good. … this can be the top corner in order to get your carrier off their board edge
2. th…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Light mixed formation – how many dice for shooting. in the forum Black Powder 1 year ago
Each base gets half a dice for shooting….
so a standard unit of 6 bases put 3 in skirmish… so 1.5 dice, as you cant have .5 of a dice its rounded up to 2
a large of 8 bases puts 4 … so only has 2 dice in skirmish shooting -

theres several possiblitys….
1) note 1 shouldnt be there – its a version of the Corp cavalry brigade left in by bad proof reading
2) note 2 should say half of the brigades in the divison should be line light
3) they are trying to say that no more than half of the divisions cavalry can be dragoons, however you do it.Personally I’ve gone…[Read more]

Page 121 French Army design list
In the cavalry brigade box it says both of these things, which I think contradict each other?
(1) Note: all regiments in a brigade must be the same class i.e. medium or light.
(2) Note: up to half of all regiments in a brigade must be Line Light
In my understanding it means if I choose to have 2 regiments in…[Read more]

This comes from Clash of Eagles pp.96-7. The formation deploys half the bases in skirmish order rather than a third, and each base seems to get a shot, which seems a bit excessive given half the unit can’t fire.
