… which, of course, it is. (D’oh!)
Agree with your observation; the R35 should have a coax MMG rather than a hull-mounted weapon. There’s also a reasonable argument that it should be rated as SLOW.
I can find no historical source that confirms that the French half-tracked transports/tractors in use in 1940 (‘Armies of France and the Allies’, p.30 – UNIC/Citroen-Kegrasse Half-Track – P.107BU and P.17, p.31 – Somua MCG/MCL Tractor) are in fact armoured (Damage Value 7+) rather than soft-skinned (Damage Value 6+) vehicles. Interestingly, the Citroen-Kegresse Portee (p.26) is given a damage value of 6+. By my reading, they should only become armoured vehicles once they’ve gone through Becker’s workshops for employment by 21 Pz Div in 1944.
And not forgetting that British cavalry formations also had their own machine-guns; initially Vickers and later Hotchkiss guns (for dismounted use only!).
Ha, I did wonder! In which case I retract my 2nd remark, and think they’re the dog’s doodahs!
The silhouette, with a mixture of headgear, seems very true to the period. I’m just not sure how many wore camouflage uniforms rather than ‘standard’ khaki battledress, particularly in winter?
German Truck Points Values
Does anyone know of a more detailed ‘official’ list for German wheeled transport to the very generic ‘Truck’ in the Armies of Germany? While we have light field cars (Kfz.2 and Kubelwagen – 3 pax) and heavy field cars (Kfz.15 – 6 pax), the only entry above this is the Truck (12 pax), covering everything from the ubiquitous Opel Blitz (12 pax probably about right – Regular 39 pts), through the Krupp Protze Kfz.70 (8 pax – which would be Regular 27 pts) to the Krupp Protze Kfz.69 and 81 which are effectively gun tractors like the British Quad (Regular 15 pts), yet they all cost the same points despite serving very different purposes and having very different capabilities.
