invisible officer replied to the topic New to Painting Black Powder Miniatures in the forum General Discussion 4 years, 4 months ago
I did that set long ago, before Warlord took it over. In Imperial Kürisser style. The number of options is impressive. But the horses a bit stiff in poses. I tried to give them a bit more Action.
I use to assemble all miniatures before painting. I do single miniature basing so handling is easy. I use plastic glue, the melting of surface giv…[Read more]

I got two of the nice Warlord KFK. The model represents the submarine hunter version of KFK 1 – 157. They had Depth Charges and 1x 3,7 cm and 1. 2 cm AA. Minesweepers had just 2 x 2 cm AA.
They had a “Spitzgatt” aft, from KFK 18 on the “Spiegelheck” was flat. That allowed an easier building.
Soon the Allied superiority in the air made…[Read more]

The SS Panzer Pioniere are in Campaign Fortress Budapest. Page 109
Like the Heer pioniere they can get mine clearing gear and other Pionier stuff and fanatics is in Special rules. In real word the OOB was totally like Heer. That they use the word Sturmpionier there is ….

The SS Divisional Pionier units had the same OOB the Heer units had. And no special toys. 😉
The “Sturmpionier” is mostly a gamer myth, the units that had that name assigned in WW II for some time are ordinary Pioniere selected for some siege operation like Sewastopol. They got a higher number of assault explosive devices and some special t…[Read more]

Fuzzy BA logic.
Both had a tow hook and both had no capacity for an extra gun crew, amo and ranging stuff.
Not like 251/4 that was designed and used as tow for guns like IG 18. But had no gun on board.

invisible officer replied to the topic S-Boot Tender Tsingtau in the forum Cruel Seas 4 years, 4 months ago
Built at Blohm & Voß Hamburg Tsingtau’s service began as general Flottentender in 1934, just a few S-boats being ready. But 5.3.1936 it became Schnellbootbegleitschiff for the six boats of 1. S-Flottille.
They operated in Ostsee. But then there was a high priority demand for cadet sea training and 13.2.1940 Tsingtau became training ship. 23 of…[Read more]

I wanted another ship for my Cruel Seas fleets. I decided for the Schnellbootbegleitschiff Tsingtau. 100 % scratch, 100 % building fun.
Tsingtau was the first specially built Tender for the German S-Boote, designed and ordered before the Nazis took over and built 1933-34.
It was the smallest of the S-Boot Tenders with 2490 ts and 87,46 meter…[Read more]

The true national TYW French looked a bit different, more finges….. -) But the mercenary armies fighting in Germany had few of them. Most looked like typical late TYW Germans. Unfortunately the Warlord miniatures re designed for ECW, often not 100 % identical.
As asked for I add some 1672 French pics.

Hmm, there are very good French soldiers available for early Louis XIV time. Including the Musketeers. Google for 1672 . Infantry still with pikes and no bayonets like in TYW. I did a larger French force (and 1672 Dutch, Spanish, Austrian and English) and like them a lot.
A certain Nottingham company did some French TYW foot long ago,…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Prussian Generals CoE and 100days army lists? in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 4 months ago
Nat gave the right answer. The problem came from the original organisation.
A Prussian Brigade had a Line Regiment of 3 Battalions (2 Musketeer / 1 Fusilier), a Reserve regiment of 3 Battalions and a Landwehrregiment of 3 – 4 Battalions.
Regimental CO was a Lt. Colonel but often a Major was doing the job.
Brigade CO was a…[Read more]

The ca. 100 men at the Beijing Radio Station in Italian concession under Lt. Cmdr. Baldassarre had been a mix from army and navy. The Navy officers and OR wore white naval tropical dress, the OR had a Khaki drill one that some may have worn. The army guys wore the standard tropical khaki uniform . They had only light arms.
3/4 decided to f…[Read more]

Well, not enjoying modelling and painting is a big problem for a gamer. Some just buy ready made armies, a question of money.
Something I would never do, for me that is 3/4 of the fun. Esp. some converions. I just finished my Blitzkrieg and Pionier sprues (the same, just extra metal parts) from two boxes. I did them in groups of 8 – 12.…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic What’s your base of choice in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 5 months ago
My base of choice is high enough to give a good grip option. Not making the guys touch the miniature. Much less breaking or bending.
It is also easier to paint with such a handle. Clear plastic is no option for me. It is not invisible. And my big guns are far too heavy, my 21 cm mortar would break clear plastic.
My material is cheap…[Read more]

Hmm, that RM project looks like a peasant’s cart, not a military one.
Why are peoples not using the superb Warlord one?
New stuff? I would be much more happy with a field kitchen or the German amo cart.
