invisible officer replied to the topic Looking for help with positioning of equipment on British Airborne models in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 12 months ago
Well, not everything is possible. The Webbing Pattern 37 web Equipment has some parts that fit only to special others.
That link brings you to a page with the regulations.

But the basic is cast on the miniature anyway. Belts and amo pouches are there.

invisible officer replied to the topic What where Napoleonic era cannons made out of? in the forum Black Powder 3 years, 12 months ago
For weight reasons Napoleonic land based field guns had been made Brom bronze. Some older iron guns got used , in, 1812 a few old iron field guns got used in Prussia with rear units. Fortress guns are often iron, the weight being not important. In general an iron gun of same calibre was cheaper but heavier.
Navy guns are mostly iron too, n…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic SDKFZ 10 in the forum Bolt Action 4 years ago
Lol. For reasons like that the ring was attached, it’s a barbed wire holder. It worked but was not fitted to later vehicles.
Modellers would have a closer look at the back. The later ones had a stronger construction for heavier tows. And for those with hydraulic breaks a pump was added, easy seen is the big air drum over the coupling on the…[Read more]

No, that device was a metal ring. Just a fraction of the SdKfz 10 had it.

invisible officer replied to the topic A comparison in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years ago
I guess that the pts of Essex class are influenced by number of ships available. With the few CV available in 41/42 they should be more expensive in a historical based game.
Well, my friends and I never care for points. Using historical OOB. Points systems all give just an illusion of ballanced game.

Using historical OOB, not point based. Works only with close friends.

Thank you for sharing how you do the remote gaming. One heart for that but you deserve many more for caring for the mothers.

invisible officer replied to the topic Why the Etna? in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years ago
It seemed very clever (from companies view) to have that game in an unusual scale. 1/1800 is limited to very few makers. Not like 1/3000, 1/2400 for gamers and 1/1200 and 1250 for Gamers and collectors.
So the Warlord customers are doomed. And the Etna causes a small uproar. In the common scales few would care. Just buying alter…[Read more]

To grow the non profit making service staff sounds nice, from asking customer’s view. But someone has to pay for it.”Free” is not really free. We all pay for it.
The profit rate in books is not high.

invisible officer replied to the topic Peninsular Swiss,Italian and Irish in the forum Black Powder 4 years ago
Well,
most foreigners under Napoleons rule had been reluctant at best. Even those under direct Bonaparte rule. Like Jerome’s 1ers Chevaux-Legers from Westphalie. Raised 1808 just 390 of 500 reached the Peninsula. The others deserted on the way.
The Irish are often former POW, most came to escape the camps. The number of stout Catholics…[Read more]

Hardly. R……… in a Warlord / Osprey product? Even the naming here is a ………… 😉
Hmmm, yes, I have it in my Blitzkrieg collection.

Well, Noon had done the Hauptmann and the others without any unit ID on Schulterklappen. An omission that might be intentional to make it a pic that can be used for other books?
The wrong crosses on a 38 t are a pitty. But Romania got some 38 t from Germany.
The Tacam R 2 AT for example was mainly built on R2 / 35 t vehicles but also on s…[Read more]

Hmm, it’s an artist impression without any local details. First publication location may be as wrong as the Stalingrad one. Floßsäcke crossing a muddy river……. Only the artist may know.

invisible officer replied to the topic Jagdpanther vs Tiger 1 in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
Hmmm, a single Jagdpanther is against nature. 😉
Merkblatt 75a/20 from 14.6.44 stated that the use of single Jagdpanther was forbidden. The minimum unit was four.
In attacks it was to bind enemy tanks from front to allow Panzer attacks from the flank.

MTB and Schnellboote had DC / Wasserbomben. They used them mainly to attack surface vessels, running close along . throwing them and going away full Speed. The blast broke the Targets back.
They also used them in fleeing before destroyers and similar. Not nice to run over a DC….. .
Submarine hunting was rarely done. The boats had limited…[Read more]

Warlord’s German historian was not asked about IR 950, the Azad Hind. So I doubt that it will be included in the next Normandie book.
The unit was organised from may 44 on like a German Standard infantry unit. Serving mostly as occupation force and retreating post Invasion it had few Engagements. It was never trusted , there had been…[Read more]

But that’s just my own scratchbuilding loving me.

invisible officer replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
I wrote LMG, not SMG. It surely affects the leaders job. A good leader is not just showing his rank signs, he commands. And for that he needs all his senses to control the fight.
Holding that weapon is no problem but serving it is. A LMG demanded a lot of “love” to work. So both crewman had to focus on that job. No time left to look wha…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Nice Knee-Jerk on the Tiger Fear Warlord… in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
I understand that peoples dislike the Tiger fear. But it was a well intended rule based on history, a psychological rule based on the Allied hystery about Tigers. Adding historical flavor.
We have literally hundreds of reports of being attacked by Tigers – with no kitten around for a hundred miles.
And in many Allied soldiers ran from “T…[Read more]
