January 19, 2019 at 11:15 am #153693John StallardModeratorhey fellas… good info in all of this..Am currently at the the cruel seas bootcamp in Nottingham.
Someone, has just made some of those channel forts that the UK had in the Thames estuary they look fabby dabby….
No doubt warlord will do a ST Nazaire boxed set, then we can fight it out on the table top and see what we can achieve in miniature… best regards and keep it cordial,,, john s
January 4, 2019 at 11:44 am #152745John StallardModeratorHi Brendan, In haste as I am dashing out, but here is my take on your questions..Good questions too!
Dodging a rammer….Hmm, had not thought of that… I would say an experienced crew could attempt it, give them a 4+ chance to do it.
suicide boats just hit automatically if they survive the approach!
The vast majority of the weapons carried on our small ships count as flack from mgs to 40mm..Hope that helps best wishes john stallard
January 3, 2019 at 2:50 pm #152717John StallardModeratorThanks for the post Renko.
I am delighted to put my name to the rule book. There are more errors than I would have liked, as you suggest, cock up not conspiracy. The book is with no doubt in my mind the best looking and visually laid out book that Warlord has produced in the last ten years. Yes, wish there were no errors but the response to the system has overwhelmingly been terrific, so much so we sold out of the rules book and the boxed game, with more coming in later this month. The response to the boats and ships has been great too, with more planned, and yes some that will not be in the lists as you simply cannot cover all the ships…We will put up the stats on our website where applicable.
Best wishes john stallard
January 2, 2019 at 1:05 pm #152673John StallardModeratorHi George and Jonathan, thanks for the post…
George , nope you didn’t miss it, Its just that we are not ready to reveal the whole range, I’m just listing some boats that I have in front of me, its the studio and marketing boys who have the job of announcing the release schedule..Hopefully some more views this week..Jonathan , not quite sure what you mean mate.Do not be surprised by people doing their best to get things correct, sometimes you make assumptions and they are wrong.Simples.. cheers js
December 31, 2018 at 1:33 pm #152622John StallardModeratorGeorge! What are you like mate?..R boats have been made for a year now… as have early Fairmiles, but we just cant show it all at once…a manufacturer has only finite capacities, both in casting , moulding designing and studio painting etc .
I’m a really glad that you are keen to crack on with more cruel seas, but you must be a little more patient, we is doing our bestest, honest!!
You will see some more boats in the next two newsletters, and an MTB pen for your boats to hide in…
Happy new year to you and your flotilla

cheers john stallard
we will of course be selling them separately in the new year
December 28, 2018 at 1:40 pm #152545John StallardModeratorGEORGE!! what are you like?? why on earth would us adding some splendid plastic kits to our range mean we don’t have other ships planned…?Where is the logic in that??When the Royal Navy fairy gives us 3 million pounds to tool up destroyers and monitors in plastic I will be delighted!!
We have LOADS of great ships and boats to bring out , we simply cant do them all at once can we? We have a lovely RN corvette, F lighters, Siebel ferries, Lince boats, Royal Marine 5.7 ” gun landing craft, etc etc LOTS more stuff, we just cant show it all at once as they need to be painted and made, simples…
And Invisible, the differing scales are perfect, as the large boats are so much bigger than the others anyway on the table it looks perfect, honest! In facct , just as with wargames buildings, large pieces are , or always , should, be undersized as they dominate an area out of all proportion…check out everybody’s la Hay sainte and Hougemonts…Do them real scale and you dont fit any more of the battle on…Wargaming is about the game, precise models are nice, but one has to make compromises for all manner of reasons,,
The monitor, good question… We made an assumption that it was a comparatively shallow beast, if we are wrong so be it, make it a target for torpedoes…But let you opponent know first!!
cheers john s
December 20, 2018 at 12:03 pm #152242John StallardModeratorHi fellas..yes you can fire each gun position separately and yes you can move and fire interrupting movement if you wish with fire as the guns acquire a target. F lighters and Siebel ferries are too shallow to torpedo if they are being used as escorts, I would class them as torpedable(!)if they are stuffed with fuel for Rommel or packed with AFVs for Sealion etc…
Aircraft…. we decided to cut down on aircraft as the games is about boats really…We decided to just give each nation a plane that could bomb small ships in a cheery fashion..otherwise Italian, German Japanese players would , rightly, be moaning about devastating Mitchell bombers with 14 heavy MGs and a 57mm cannon and bombs, or a fully loaded beaufighter with rockets cannons mgs and torpedoes
as ever please feel free to add or subtract whatever you wish, its a play set to get you started, add away fellas, that’s all part of the fun!!
cheers john s

December 18, 2018 at 4:15 pm #152146John StallardModeratorgreat idea mate as ever here at WG if it feels good do it….
I also play a house rule that if you have parked a second vehicle right next to a targeted vehicle,it suffers the penalty of a plus one to be hit , as the firer has zeroed in on that exact range… good plan john stallard
December 18, 2018 at 4:12 pm #152145John StallardModeratorlove them well done mate…
