Nat replied to the topic Austrian and Russian command penalties in the forum Black Powder 2 years, 9 months ago
For both its easy to make it a none entity rule… As the rule only affects battalions of different regiments (or cavalry regiments*)
The russians can take a brigade of 1 regiment… that may or may not have multiple battalions, The one brigade where you need multiple battalions from different regiments is the grenadier brigade which…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Scenarios for Sniper & Observer deployment in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 9 months ago
I’d take it to include the table edge where your models can enter the table from.
So with ‘meeting engagement’ I’d say cant be 12″ away from the enemies table edge OR an already deployed forward deployment unit!

Nat replied to the topic Scouting points and radar in the forum Victory At Sea 2 years, 9 months ago
Only the ship with Radar gets the benefit.
Think of it this way, you make a pool of dice for the aircraft, a pool of destroyers & cruisers without radar, a pool for Destroyers & cruisers with radar & a 4th pool for those with advance radar.
Pools 1 &2 can be rolled together as they are a 5+, pool 3 is a 4+ with a re-roll & pool 4 is a 3+ with a…[Read more] -
Nat replied to the topic Status of new campaign book and Italians in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 9 months ago
the book ‘soft underbelly’ was released a couple of weeks ago, and is available for purchase through the UK store (other stores dont always show the same info)
the units /army deals are still up for pre order (they may be a Feb release……)

Nat replied to the topic soviet army dog mine anti tank teams in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 10 months ago
@Stuart….. intresting take. As the wording doesnt say nearest eligible vehicle, and its not being targeted I’ve always read it as the closest soviet vehicle irrespective of order die gets a dog run under it. Kinda like how you pick a unit to be shot when your firing unit FUBARs…. the proximity is the only targeting restriction.

Nat replied to the topic Still not clarified: rules for the DAK Aufklärungsgruppen in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 10 months ago
Some of warlord do read these forums…. however if you email info@warlordgames.com then one of the service guys will pass the question on to the rules team*… you should get an offical answer then.
*if they get asked enough they should put it in to the FAQ – they have with the VaS ones that I’m aware of

Nat replied to the topic Still not clarified: rules for the DAK Aufklärungsgruppen in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 10 months ago
oh I agree totally… I think consistancy and clarity* is important between books (& factions in a game!)…. well…. lets just say I made my point clear to one of warlords authors**…. (and similarly warlord themselves, never did get an answer to that email about proof reading in their books :p )
*as in not needing a FAQ /errata to find out…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Still not clarified: rules for the DAK Aufklärungsgruppen in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 10 months ago
The issue is a mix of …. warlord dont have the same authors for the campaign books, os htere is little consistancy between the books – either rules or units &warlord try not to FAQ/Errata the campaign books
So, not having the books in question I would go with
1) IF its purchased as a single unit then it provides one order die & is activated…[Read more] -
Nat replied to the topic Artillery bases in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 10 months ago
Dont forget that as far as the rules are concerned each crewman is considered to be on their own 25mm round base. This is important for working out templates, and distance between the crew and the gun (its meassured to the breach of the gun).
Having said that I play that if you hit the gun with a certain size template (3″) I just say you hit…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Idea: Rift tech in the sky! K47 equivalent to blood red skies. in the forum Konflikt '47 2 years, 10 months ago
The issue with a jet version of single engine props is that they wouldnt really work that well… the airframe is wrong for how the engine draws in air – look at how the phantom or F86 Sabre look….far easier to design a new aircraft, Twin engine aircraft might work with early jet engines – stuff like the whirlwind!
HOWEVER – I do like the…[Read more]

Poor skirmishers rule no longer has any meaning…it basically removed the +1 skirmishers got in v1.
The points I think are right…not got access to my spreadsheet where I ran all the calculations

Nat replied to the topic Basing Differences for Black Powder Napoleonics in the forum Black Powder 2 years, 10 months ago
v1 was that (set number of models per grouping /unit), v2 gives an approximate frontage per unit… its very similar in overall size…
ie a Normal sized unit of 24 models with a base of 15-20mm frontage per model works out +/-20 mm of the v2 frontage…. heres a table I drew up for my group as a reference

Nat replied to the topic Large unit stats in the forum Black Powder 2 years, 10 months ago
rough rule of thumb…units are made of groups (called companies in the rules but not historical companies) tiny are 1-2, small 3-4, normal 5-6 & large are 7-8
each group is about 80-100ish men
each group provide 1 hth, .5 shooting & .5 stamina. hth is rounded to the next even number, shooting & stamina are rounded to the next number
Elite…[Read more] -

Clash of Eagles is the book about the French invasion of Russian 1812 where the Prussians where part of the French army….

Because the points are fudged…. if you use the points calcualator from v1 rulebook you find with standard artillery they come in at 30 points for the Prussians OR you use them as light guns (36″ range) and 26 points is right.

Nat replied to the topic Do intervening infantry give soft cover to armor? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 11 months ago
[quote]Infantry models are always allowed to see and shoot through enemy infantry and artillery models as if they were not there. Note however that if you shoot through an enemy unit, this will provide cover to their comrades behind, as explained later in the section about cover[/quote]
Basically its worked out from the firing model… if the LoF…[Read more]

So the AT gun has a clear line of sight at a tank and declears a shot, suddenly theres a unit in front of it….. but that doesnt matter?
(as it happens I do tend to play it that the mods are worked out when you roll to hit, & I make sure my opponent is aware that I can jump the riders off to infront of the tank and so hinder the clear shot)

Nat replied to the topic Aircraft Carriers – What's the point? in the forum Victory At Sea 2 years, 11 months ago
You’ve hit the biggest issue with WLPS & Carriers in my opionion after a number of discussions – the free flights (which is why all the community points systesm have a carrier discount)
Deep Deployment – after the FAQ has added about a page of extra rules, they’ve adminted that it doest work so ‘recommend you dont use it in tournaments’…. I…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Do intervening infantry give soft cover to armor? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 11 months ago
yes….
which is why the wording of tank riders & its lack of timings/clarity is a problem….. because they dismount when the shot is decleared and found to be in range, so even though they are down if they go infront of the tank the shot now passes over them…so do you work out the cover when declearing the shot or when rolling the dice (so…[Read more]
